skincare emergency

ok well i had a huge pimple starting on my nose. and so i committed the crime of using 2 or 3 treatments at the same time on the pimple to stop it from erupting. now, almost a week later, my skin is still flaky, scaly, peeling, rough, blotchy and very dry in some spots, very oily in others, and normal in the rest. my skin is also discoloured and there are red blotches. im still getting pimples.

Exactly, I am just going to be sure I let the Doctor know that I have succesfully used the 1% retinol OTC cream and would prefer to start on a fairly low strength script dose and work my way up, rather than starting too high and over doing it 🙂

Yeah of course – research what you`re doing – but I mean don`t confuse yourself with the different strengths etc! BT`s do know what they`re doing! 🙂

I know Elmo but I do like to know what I am getting myself into as well, lol. I am only just understanding the difference between all the different forms of Vitamin A, I have done some interesting reading, so it does sounds good to me 🙂

Don`t confuse yourself mel! Just leave it up to your BT and doctor! 🙂

This site gives the different forms of Retin A and it`s percentages, I don`t see 1% in there at all though, that must be just for retinol, confusing myself big time, LOL.
It does appear that only Retinol OTC products can be as high as 1% as it is not as potent as retin a.

After re-reading this I realized it does not make that much sense, I need to find out more about it really, I am aware of the different brands available in the prescrition vit a`s but I have not looked into their % or anything as of yet, I was going to ask the Dr. to start me on the lowest to begin with.

The 1% is only the retinol OTC product, wheras they have different strength creams and gels in different forms of vitamin a available with a script, these come in various strengths as well, I assumed they would be stronger than the retinols as they are apparently more effective, but I would doubt in whatever form they would be stronger than 1.% it is just a different product so I believe. I am yet to discuss this with my doctor just that the BT advised me to move on to the prescription vit a after having successfully used the retinol strengths. Hope that makes sense, this is all new to me darl, lol.

What strength do they give you after 1.0%?

  • 15 yrs, 1 mth ago

No darl, I looked and I have some other one`s but that is not one of them, I might see if I can get a sample with my next order, the phyto sounds like it has similar benefits. Thankfully I have had no dramas at all with the retinol 0.5, I use it everyday and have no side effects at all. I am ready to start on the 1.0 now and hopefully that will go well so I can then go for the prescription strength in a few more months 🙂

Do you have a sample? It`s great to have on hand if you od on retinol!
