Silly idea – tape on nails?

This is probably a silly idea, but it was inspired by the blog post about using tape to create nail polish patterns.

Does anybody know if it’s possible to apply sticky tape trimmed to fit neatly over your painted nails, paint another colour on the tape to wear for a few hours then peel off to get back to the original colour? 🙂

I’ve been looking for a new experiment to do so I’m going to try it and find out. haha

I’m wondering whether the sticky tape glue would start to eat into the original polish so that when you peel it off it would no longer be shiny but a bit dull (ie a bit like when you swipe with a little bit of nail polish remover how it just eats in a little bit and makes it look dull).

But Alice, theres only 1 way to find out…so let us know the answer!!

As long as the polish below was COMPLETELY dry… then theorhetically it should work. Although I think it would be likely that the tape would lift and probably wouldnt last a whole day. Before applying the tape you have to “de-sticky” it somewhat so thta when its removed it doesnt take the polish beneath it with it. So yeah. I dunno. I’d say it cant hurt to give it a go – maybe try it at home during the day on the weekend or something and see how it holds up :). The polish might also dry to a slightly different finish over the tape.

I know you can apply tape to the tip of the nails to do a french.

You could always give it ago

The should create a tape that an go over nail polish and once the polish has dried on the other areas you can remove the tap without taking the polish off

Good question! My initial thought is that nail polish won’t dry on sticky tape? But I could be wrong:)
