Schwarzkopf Brilliance – Colours & Lightens in one easy step

Hi Everyone,

I am thinking using the Schwarzkopf Brilliance, Red Passion colour on my medium brown colour hair.

I’m just worried about the lightning step of this hair colour. Does anyone know how much it lightens???

The reason why I’m asking is, when I normally dye my hair, when I’m tired of the colour, I just use a colour fix to bring it back to close to my natural colour. So, I’m worried that by using this product, my hair will be all lightened and a horrible brassy colour.

Does anyone have any experience with this product – does it lighten much???? I guess I could always just re-dye after I’ve used the colour fix.

Thanks.

Hi darl, just for a difference of opinion, and this is just my personal experience, as this range seems to have good reviews so it obviously works well for different people, such as Spunkx who had a positive experience, just wanted to give my two cents worth, lol.
I have been dying my own hair for years and have tried various brands of permanent hair colours, and I definitely noticed that while Schwarzkopf gives me initially good colour results, it also is basically the shortest lived as well. I find that the colour doesn’t last in my hair for more than maybe two weeks before it fades and changes colour. which is quite yuck depending on the colour. I have used several different shades and products under the brand and regardless which one I tried, I always got really disappointed with how my hair changed so soon after dying it, even though I was using colour extending shampoo and conditioner to help prolong the colour. It is the one brand that I really distinguish as being a quick fix rather than a lasting (permanent) colour.
These days I only use L’Oreal as I find their versions deliver both initial colour results and the colour holds on my hair as I would expect a permanent colour to hold, permanently, lol, not like the so called permanents that are basically only semi permanents, hense they fade big time. I now only need to touch up my roots when they become noticeable as the lengths are still holding up well.
Anyway, I wouldn’t say don’t try it, because I obviously did and did so on numerous occasions, coz I wanted the most affordable in the colour I required at the time, and Schwarzkoph always have good pricing and lots of selections, but unfortunately it just didn’t agree with my hair, well not for long anyway, haha. I would rather pay that bit extra for one that I am comfortable with because I am sure it provides lasting results. But everyone has different hair so here is hoping you get a result that you are really happy with. Keep us posted on how you get on, and I am with Spunkx, a big welcome to the forums, hope to catch you around 🙂

I actually agree with pretty much all that you have written melmeko! I was pretty disappointed with how short lived my bright red colour was, but I haven’t tried any other brands in order to make a good comparison. My response was more about the lightening aspect of this product, which I was happy to see wasn’t a dramatic effect.

Hi Deewhat, welcome to Beauty Heaven 🙂

I used this a few months ago in a different colour, but the same range – made for dark hair. I was quite happy with the results, certainly the brightest red I’ve ever achieved at home.

It does lighten, creating a brighter red as a result, but I wouldn’t worry about it too much. My hair is naturally medium brown also, and while the the red has faded for me now (I used it a few months ago) I haven’t been left with a gross orange colour or anything nasty like that.
