I too loved the idea of matte lipsticks (very vintage) so picked up Mauve It Over and Really Red when they first came out. I LOVE these! Wearing the mauve one today as a matter of fact! I find they are a teensy bit drying, but I think that is mainly because I can`t apply lip balm over the top like I sometimes do with other lipsticks, otherwise I`ll lose that awesome matt look. They are heaps cheaper than the MAC options (which were the only other matte ones I could find) and stay quite well.

Also, just a hint on red lipstick – it will take you forever to find one you like, but when you do just use this as a guide to buy your next one. It seriously took me about 2 years searching for a red I liked, only to have it discontinued on me! I have a teensy bit left in the tube and so I always take it when shopping for a new red, then you can put it on the back of your hand to test new colours against rather than having to put on your face, then check in natural and artificial light etc etc. Really Red is actually really close to my fav red, so I love it, but reds are such a personal thing and you have to get it right – nothing looks worse than someone with a red that is too cool, too warm or too orange for them!!

I love, love, love Revlon Matte lipstick! Any revlon lipstick, actually. Revlon excels at making lip products imo. I have a pinkish one that`s gorgeous, and if I think it needs some shimmer I just dress it up with some gloss.

Makeup if you`d like to use red lipstick but can`t, try dabbing on the colour using your finger – a light touch. This gives your lips a stained, barely-there colour. You can build it up. Still red, but not wowza!

I have one in nude attitude i love it! especially for looks that are very dramatic on the eyes and you need something tame on the lips. Also found that matte lipstick shade extremely useful to lighten other color lipstick shades up. For example i bought a max factor lipstick in english rose and realized that it was TOO pink and decided to mix it with the nude and it was perfect! If it is too dry don`t worry just dab on a little bit of lip balm (eg lucas papaw ointment) before you do any of your make up as in when your face is bare it allows the balm to work in so it won`t be super oily when you apply lipstick and slide.

id love to try the red but red just isnt my colour thats why i stuck with the naturals..really red is a brighter red, in the red is a more traditional deep red-my favourite if i could wear reds lol and theres also fabulous fig which is a dark browny reddy colour if your interesed in the reds 🙂

I love the ads for these and have thought about trying them too. Has anyone tried the red one from the ad? I have tanned skin so some reds just look way over done.

thanks 🙂 i ended up buying 2 natural looking colours nude attitude and mauve it over..i must say they actually arent too bad in terms of drying, my lips feel smooth still after having it on, however i noticed with the nude attitude as my lips were already cracked-even though i did exfoliate and put lip balm underneath that the colour sinks into the cracks of my lips which gives a nasty look! however the mauve is great it is a nice colour and stil looks natural and not overdone, hopefully when my lips are abit more hydrated i can start to wear the nude attitude! 🙂

    Hi there
I have used these before and they are quite nice. My lips are naturally dry as well so I was a bit sceptical. I wouldn`t say they are drying, they have vitamins a, c and e included so hopefully they are ok to use. The colour lasts well and is buildable. I like them as my lips are pale, I like some colour in the day while at work with out looking `too much`. Good value too. The Matte in this case seems to just refer to the colour, although other matte ranges have def been known to be drying. For me, they have been fine! 🙂
