Schmatazzel, foundation shades are gnerally broken into two categories. Pink undertones and Yellow undertones. So if you don`t want to highlight your pink undertones then you definatley need to pick a shade that has yellow undertones.

As for thicker coverage maybe try looking for products labelled full coverage and if you still want more invest in a powder. Layering all these products however won`t be good for your skin everyday and will most likely highlight your laugh lines.

Smile lines- Nothing to be embarassed about. Not much that you can do. Primer will help and so will a good moisturiser but nothing will erase them. Unless of course you consider plastic surgery. And that`s just a wee bit drastic to try and hide the fact that you enjoy smiling.

The best suggestion I can give you is try out some mineral make up. It`s great at minimising lines and is actually better for your skin and may help with the pink colour you mentioned. There are some great threads on mineral make up in the make up section.

    Goodluck. xoxo

My skin is very oily so I have struggled to find appropriate foundation. The two I swear by are Mirenesse`s 12 hour airbrush and Revlon`s Beyond Natural skin matching makeup. I use the Revlon for everyday use – especially in summer (even converted my mum and her friends to this one!) and the Mirenesse I prefer for cooler times and more `formal` situations. What I like about both is they look `natural` and last all day without any hassles

Do you moisturise before going into your makeup routine? A primer will definitely help and with the foundation i would recommend building it up bit by bit because you may have applied too much and it became `cakey`. It could also be the weather or your skin type too, or the foundation is just not right for you.

Edit: And i definitely agree with you Mel, invisible zinc does not cake at all and blends in really well into the skin. If i want more coverage i often blend it with a little foundation. =]

I have oily skin and makeup use to always settle into my fine lines. Now I use Invisable Zinc on most days with EDM concealer and my skin is looking flawless. I also use the EDM mineral powder foundation when I want more coverage, but still most of my liquid ones tend to settle in my frown line, lol, powders work better for me, a primer seems to help heaps too 🙂
Also try a green concealer for getting red of pink tones 🙂

    I get this too 🙁
I have soooo many dramas finding foundations. I have tried cheap, expensive. Countless.
I use primer also (have tried a bunch of different primers also!!)
Do you have oily skin shazmatazzel? I have oily skin and finding a good foundation seems impossible 🙁

    Hi there.

what foundation are you using at the moment? and what is your skin type?
Also, where do you apply your makeup? I find mine always looks best if I apply it in natural light. Because the colour is true, I can see how much I`m applying.
