Hi, I cannot have anything pierced. I had my ears done when I was little and they had to be removed by a GP, my sister had hers done at the same time and was fine. I then had my ear re done 15yrs later. Same thing again, swollen and infected. And tried once again and same again. I have had my tongue done and same thing.

I have over 50 keloids over my shoulder blades, over 20 over my outer thighs, a few on my jaw line and some across my breast. Keloids are not a reaction from friction. They are usually the result of trauma to your skin, like piercing`s, surgery, cuts, grazes, burns, acne and even from slight inflammation etc etc. Mine are generally from a small pimple I didn`t even know was there. You don`t have to interfere with them to make them appear.

Mine are not disappearing, they are getting bigger and uglier. They are itchy and painful, and because I have so many surgery is a no no and cortisone injections don`t work.

Hey Nanine!! I`m sitting here watching `Embarassing Bodies` on channel 9 and there`s a boy on here with Keloids. They`ve said the same as you … that Keloids are caused by skin OVER HEALING itself, because of ANY trauma to the skin … they sent him to a cosmetic surgeon who has given him laser treatment and steroid injections directly to the bigger keloids … it`s been a REAL improvement! Although there is still slight discolouration … his skin is flat and smooth again … looks reeeeally good from when he first visited the doctor. Didn`t give an idea of COST tho?? I`m assuming it`d be extremely expensive!?? :S

Wow there are some really painful piercing stories here.
I went with my Sister, about 20 years ago, when she got her tummy pierced. She was lying down too and I watched the lady grab as much tummy skin (my sister had no fat) as possible and then just shove this pointed object through. All I could compare it to was the harpooning of a whale, honestly. I was fine, blood and stuff don`t bother me but my poor sis nearly fainted. But watching that made me think I`d NEVER get that done myself.

    Hey Nanine,
I don`t have them to the extent that you do, but I know how you feel about the itch and pain! So incredibly frustrating! I got mine after piercing my ears, I had to have surgery three times to remove them, and my ear lobes are slightly disfigured now, but my doctor recommended radiation therapy after surgery, and they haven`t come back! Success!

I have a third peircing on my earlobe that used to reject ALOT and I get this big bulge of pussy buildup, it was gross.
Even now, my right ear goes crazy if I wear an earring it disagrees with (mainly the `fake stuff`).
My other piercings have that same problem but not as bad.

MY NOSE RING SHOT OUT WHEN I SNEEZED, WAS EMBARRASING BUT NOT TOO HORRIBLE

Hahaha that comment made my day.

That sounds horrid, I had my ears pierced at the age of three and I have never had a problem (apart from the fact that the lady didn`t do it straight and my holes are at awkward angles)

Oucchh, marshmello!! only qualified piercers should be allowed to pierce. a metal skewer sounds, omg, torturous.

My rook (ear cartilage) piercing was rejecting cause it was pierced badly and I got it removed today. Hurt a b*tch and my piercer felt sorry for me so he offered to repierce it for free once it`s healed 🙂

In yr 10 I had my belly pierced at a medical centre in blacktown as I was old enough to get it done but needed parental consent if I wanted it done at a piercing/tattoo studio. Anyway it was the worst pain I had ever experienced, the lady wasnt qualified and had no idea what she was doing, my sister almost fainted (and turned pale having to lie down afterwards) just watching her clamp down the skin and twist a metal skewer through it I was also lying down the whole time which Ive been told is not the proper way to be positioned during the piercing. The piercing didnt fit me at all and half the ring stuck out all the time, I constantly had yellow and white ooze coming out of the piercing and it was incredibly painful to move it or touch it.

My body has always rejected piercings. I got my ears pierced when I was 7, used surgical steel earrings, and my ears got horrifically infected. We managed to save the piercing in the end with mum coming to the school 3 times a day for a month to clean it out for me. When I was 17, I decided to get my ears done for the second time. This time I used 18c gold earrings. Biggest mistake ever!!!! Turns out I have a nickel allergy, which is in 18c gold. My earlobes developed into ulcers that were seeping green puss and the works. There was no saving this piercing, and the doctors were close to removing a section of my earlobes. I have sworn off piercing forever now.

My first year out of high school … a girlfriend of mine and I went to get our tongues pierced … and while I was there I decided to get my lip pierced as well … got home that afternoon and my mum just looked at me and started CRYING!!! My poor mum wouldn`t stop crying … I felt so sorry for her I walked straight to the bathroom and pulled it out! Obviously she stopped crying and asked me not to do anything like that to my face again! lol. That was $80 bucks gone to waste! Atleast she couldn`t SEE the tongue pierce so I kept that one! lol.
