My Hair Feels Like Straw

Hi,
I’m trying to grow my hair long, like Giselle Bundchen’s hair and probably have about 4 inches to go. The only downside is my hair is starting to get really dry and straw-like. I’ve used moisturing shampoos & conditioners, leave in conditioners, and have resorted to air drying my hair. Help what more can I do?

Do you have to warm up the coconut oil. And if you leave on overnight. What did you cover your hair with to sleep on. When you wash it off do you use shampoo and conditioner?

    Thanking You

Warm up some coconut oil, massage it well into the hair from root to tip including the scalp. Leave it on for 2 hours or overnight if possible. Wash it with warm to cool water in the morning . Also try not to use very hot water. Do this twice a week and soon your hair will become soft , beautiful and healthy. Also for a home remedy that actually works very fast is guava leaf hair tonic. I have been using it for two weeks now and my hair has become thick and healthy with new growth. I had the same problem like you. Every time I tried to grow my hair, it was so week that you could see my scalp from a mile, it was dry like straw as well. Boil 15 guava leaves in 1 litre of water till it is reduced by half, cool it down, strain the liquid and massage it into hair and scalp, leave it overnight and rinse it off in the morning. Do this till desired results are achieved. Keep left over tonic in a bottle in the fridge and use it within 3 weeks. Hope this helps.

Redken All Soft Range and the All Soft 6 Oil added to the All Soft Hair Treatment feels amazing. Instant results. An overnight oil treatment before shampoo, conditioner and boosted treatment on towel dried hair. Rinse out. Towel dry and add all Soft 6 Oil or Argan Oil. Leave in hair treatment and leave in night treatments are available to add extra softness.

Redkin All soft is fantastic and I love it, but what I find it those styling tools are what will kill it aswell as dying, bleach blond is so damaging, so you might want to think of you brunette because of the damage or go back to your original colour.

I also use a vitamin masque every week and it`s really helpful!

Excellent advice in this thread. I too have long hair that I home colour quite often. I try to only wash it 2-3 times per week. I`m going to note down some of the conditioning treatments mentioned and give them ago.

i bleached the living crap out of my hair, so now i`m using Redken Extreme shampoo and conditioner, and following it up with a leave in conditioning treatment to counteract the protein 🙂

my hairdresser is very proud 🙂

im trying to grow my hair aswell and i think my daily straightening isnt really helping. try to cut back on using heat products jsut let your hair dry naturally and use a deep moisturising treatment and instead of just leaving it on for 5 minutes apply it before bed, wrap your head in glad wrap and when you wash it out in the morning it feels so nice and silky!

Cutting your hair does not make it grow faster. It is a good idea to have a trim every 6 weeks, especially once you reach your goal to keep split ends at bay.

I love the alchemy leave in conditioner, it smells great and leaves the hair soft.

hi Gabbi Girl. you should be able to buy it at price attack or hair house warehouse if you have one near you. it is really nice. i also discovered the most divine treatment by kevin murphy. i have exactly the same problem as you and muraljewel. also don`t over do the heat protection, it can make hair go funny if you use too much – i learned the hard way. lol.

Where can I buy the Redken Silk Fuel? It sounds like something I could use. I have long hair and it seems the top layer and ends always end up frizzy and dry – Help!!
