I’m always looking out for more natural products because chemicals always give me reactions, so I was disappointed to realise how much of Moroccan Oil is chemically based and how little actual Argan Oil is in it considering the price point.
There’s an importer of 100% pure Argan Oil in Australia though. It hasn’t been around that long, so it hasn’t gotten any publicity or anything going yet, but I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Seriously, because it’s 100% pure you can use it on your face and nails too, and my hair and skin have been so much better and softer since using it.
You can buy it online at http://arganlife.com.au/
$25 for a 50ml bottle seemed expensive at first but I’ve been using it for like, 2 months and sharing with my sister and mother and we’re only halfway through the bottle. I think because it’s pure you only need a tiny amount. And it’s Fair Trade too! I will DEFINITELY be buying more of it. I hope that it helps anyone else that was disappointed by how diluted Moroccan Oil is.

Thanks for this – I’ve been hestiating on buying MO for a while for hte same reasons as you, but intrigued by all the claims. I’m going to try this one now.

Checked out the arganlife website, looks alright, anyone else tried this brand? Never used argan oil before so very curious about it after reading all the posts.

I was considering the 25ml bottle as you don’t need to use much, but after reading that moroccan oil is basically watered down argan oil, I think I”ll try argan oil instead. I don’t have a problem with sillicones, I just think its way to pricey for moroccan oil whereas you can get pure argan oil for a bit less.
I read this on simply hair and beauty, and argan oil makes more sense to me, being purer and healthier for the hair long term (and also less in price). My hair is very dry, so I think I would prefer an oil with slightly more residue that will last longer than a product that is based more on silicones for a quick more temporary fix. Its all about personal preference anyway.

“What is the Difference Between One ‘n Only Argan Oil and Moroccan Oil?
They both contain “Argania Spinoza Kernel Oil” or Argan Oil which is the key ingredient. Argan oil is derived from seeds found on trees in Morocco. Moroccan oil contains a few more chemicals known as “cones” (dimethicone) which are lighter, and from certain hair forums, seems to react well with hair and doesn’t leave as much residue as the “One and Only Argan Oil” product.
It’s very important to only a small amount when applying to the hair. We’ve had plenty of feedback on the products and the Moroccan is slightly preferred over the One and Only
product. I guess it all comes down your hair and how it reacts to them.”

Great info blu. I recently was given a sample of the Argan Oil by Babybliss PRO to try and liking it so far. I still want to try Moroccanoil and see if there is any difference.

I came across this… it is organic and I wonder if u can use in ur hair too??

I think it depends if it’s purely Argan Oil. Considering it’s marketed as a “belly oil” I think it’s probably a blend of argan oil and other oils. I have seen Argan Oil products which seem to be 100% Argan Oil and they usually get marketed as multi-purpose products (e.g. use it in your hair to strengthen, your face to help prevent wrinkles and your body to improve skin elasticity).

I saw one of the multi-purpose ones last night but can’t remember the brand for the life of me. Either way, there are plenty of pure argan oil products out there which you could use on your body as well as your hair.

EDIT: I looked it up and that Made4Baby one is definitely a blend that has Argan Oil in it as well as some other oils. If you used it in your hair it might weigh your hair down. Blends with Argan Oil in them aren’t all bad – i’m currently using a blend of Hemp oil, Argan oil and some other oils for my hair however that one is formulated just for hair so it won’t weigh it down (unless you pour a heap of it on your hair).

I just returned from my hairdresser (looking sensational). I asked her for a recommendation for a treatment to look after my ends as my hair is longer than it has ever been in my life. She recommended argan oil so I bought a bottle of GKMBJ argan oil. I did a little bit of quick research and it is an Australian brand and is available online at GKMBJ.com.au where they sell it for $36.85. Has anyone else used this brand of argan oil? How does it compare?

i just got a 100mL bottle today and tried it on straightaway.. my colleagues has been telling me how good it is.. esp if you straighten your hair.. it nourishes, but doesn’t weight your hair down much. I have oily scalp and dry ends, so I’m gonna start applying it from mid lengths to ends and it’s really smooth! However it has a strong fragrance if you don’t like it, then it’s probably a nightmare to use it

I also find that is works a treat on my ends when they’re dry. I thought I’d try it this morning as my hair was a little frizzy so I applied the tiniest amount to my ends and my hair looked great! The frizz went and my hair looked so soft. This really is a miracle product. It absorbs so well in the hair, no greasy or oily residue.
