Mirenesse Brand: Any Good?

Hi,

Only recently moved to Australia & unfamiliar with a lot of the brands / shops here.

I’m also on a savings budget 🙁

I have stumbled upon the Mirenesse website & never having heard of this brand before – wondered if their products are good / worthwhile purchasing?

There’s no way I’d pay $20 p/m to be a VIP member & some of their prices look to be on the expensive side BUT I might just pay the postage to trial a few of their freebie offers….is this worthwhile doing or give it a miss?

Cheers!

I too watched Beauty News` video on Mirenesse and I agree with everything Kat and Hailey said. It`s definitely dodgy and excessive when a brand sends multiple emails a day. The video made reference to an anonymous account that this brand`s flashy and relentless marketing tactics are similar to those of pokie machines and it seems the brand targets vulnerable people.

I hope all will end well for Kat and Hailey

I like the products that I`ve tried but the emails are over the top. I`ve unsubscribed from emails many times. It puts me off purchasing from brand.

I can`t remember whether I`ve commented in here before or not so at risk of repeating myself, I`ll say that I`ve tried one of the Secret Weapon mascaras before based upon hype, but it wasn`t the best thing ever. Thought it was pretty meh & for the price, I much prefer my Eye of Horus mascara…plus as far as I`m aware, EOH don`t resort to dodgy tactics, spam emails or threats of defamation if you don`t like their stuff. ;o)

I have used a few of their products over the years including concealer, loose powder (one purchase) and two different lip glosses (gifts with purchase).

I liked the concealer and the loose powder but I did not like either lip gloss and I only just checked if they were still here and they are gone.
That brand really did annoy me with their too frequent emails so I unsubscribed soon after signing up. I mean how many times I week do I need to buy products? how much make up am I supposed to wear to continually need to get emails about buying some more. I think they have so many promotions for that is their main marketing technique but there is too much.

After seeing how they behaved here last year and the video about defamation it is less and less likely that I will go back to them again.

WOW…..There are products of theirs that I really like but the prices have always scared me and I stopped their emails as I was getting way too many every day and it was just too much. I also found if they had a promo where they would say that if you got a friend to sign up then both of you would get a free lip product or eye shadow, etc….they didnt tell you that it only worked if BOTH of you were new email subscribers.

I wasn`t aware of that behaviour duality but a company that responds to a negative opinion of their product by threatening to sue for defamation lowers exponentially any interest I would remotely have in even trying, let alone, buying their products. Consumers should be entitled to express their honest opinions about a brand.

From a legal perspective (and I work in this field), their legal representatives should have: (1) advised them that threatening to sue would be counterproductive to the value in their brand (I would go as far as to call this behaviour self-destructive); and (2) truth (justified opinion) is a complete defence to a defamation action – I don`t specialise in defamation law but it`s common non-legal knowledge, i.e. this is such a waste of time but by all means throw money at it if you feel inclined.

Kat`s a a lawyer though so I`m fairly confident she knows how to put them back in the box.

I watched the vid today. I already had a low opinion of the brand, but now I will certainly not buy from them again.

I`ve just seen the extracts of the original letter from Mirenesse`s lawyers asking them to comply with a certain list of things, giving them only 2 days to respond – what a joke. Two days is a very unreasonable amount of time, even to consider lawyering up in response. The letter also doesn`t mention which sections of an Act they were breaching. This is such poor legal practice! Mirenesse`s lawyers as as bad as the company!

Yes, saw that Snailor! And Duality, saw your comment on there featured.

I had no idea about the company, their existence etc, until last year by accident stumbling upon their website trough just googling stuff (was searching for a primer) . I clicked on it, it opened this product and lots of flashy free this and that, huge % discounts …all on one page. I freaked out and closed the page and did thorough virus scan on my comp!
I thought it was one of those pop-up spam-virus thingies! It looked so dodgy and suspicious, so I never payed nay attention to it until now, with the BeautyNews and all. Can not believe they are actually legit hahahaha …and no, I would never ever buy anything from them

I saw that and must say I wouldn`t purchase from them anyway after their sneaky behaviour here on BH last year during the Glosscars or Best in Beauty they had a deceptive marketing email which I screen capped and posted here. They are a sneaky marketing company and I would avoid like the plague! For those who aren`t aware they basically changed the sender on the email to make it appear to be from beauty heaven, changed their logo to the bh one and said vote for Mirenesse, dodgy company!
