Mineral make up beginner needs budget advice

Hi all.

Ok, lots of questions, i don’t know where to start. I’m looking for a well priced mineral make up foundation and bronzer/blush and brushes (i have absolutely no equipment). For this reason i’m leaning towards Sheer Cover as you seem to get a lot in their starter kit for what seems quite cheap.

However, i’m not keen to buy from overseas and i worry about having to mix my own foundation, is it hard?

Everyday Minerals again sounds good but again they’re American and i don’t trust myself to be able to choose products in the right shades from the internet.

I guess i just want price advice in relation to value, i mean i really need the whole kit and caboodle which is why Sheer Cover seems good.

Is it really as terrible as everyone says? I don’t have sensitive skin, oily if anything.

Or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Sorry for the lengthy post!

Hey BeautyBee…you have provided HEAPs of fantastic advice about mineral foundations and ingredient safety, I found it really helpful too, I also love Cosmetics Database! Great stuff and thank you! (Cute pic btw)
Hi Hunnibunch I have the Maybelline Mineral Foundation Powder and I was unsure of the ingredients in it myself so I kept it sealed and typed in every ingredient in to Cosmetics Database to find out how they rate and only 3 of the 16 ingredients prove to be harmful. Others are naturally derived from plant, flowers and land. Just wanted to pass this on…now I can`t wait to rip it open and try it out. It`s right here in front of me!

Yubi325 – From my research and checking of ingredients lists Inka is one of the best mineral makeups you can get for your skin. I do have a couple of others. You might like to try also

Inika mineral foundation claims to be natural and free of talc, bismuth oxychloride, mineral oil, parabans, fragrance and aluminum chloride. It`s a little pricey, though, and I wouldn`t know where to find it apart from online. Haven`t yet seen it at Myer or David Jones.

If ID Bare Minerals is pure, then arsenic is pure, too, and you should put it on your face. Go figure! 🙂

HMad – sorry have to disagree with you as well – like beautybee said, ID bare minerals has bismuth and I think talc as well, both known irritants to many. Eles mineral makeup may not be 100% natural but they are irritant free (and bismuth/talc free).

Hi Hasty 3 – I agree Inka is a very good brand. My favourtite is Chocobo Naturals. Inka is vegan and contains no chemicals or nasties. I did have a look yesterday and Maybelline has chemicals and nasties.

Hi HMad – I am sorry but ID Bare minerals is not pure and I believe there are other better choices these include Inka, Musq, Chimrae, Aussie minerals and Chocobo Naturals to name a few. ID Bare minerals contains Bismuth which is a known irritant.

I guess it all depends on personal choice and what you are after.

I.D. Bare Minerals is the best, it is the only PURE mineral make-up on the market. Their next closest competitor has 17 other ingredients in them!
Pink Diva is right they have starter kits with the brushes etc available at Myer. They are quite a bit more expensive but are well worth it because they last for years.

i purchase my mineral makeup from pharmacies, and department stores, try inika, its mineral, and effective and very gentle on sensitive skin, and does not clog pores, if you would like a cheaper option try maybellines new range of mineral powders, very effective, lets skin breathe, no harsh chemicals, and good price range

Whoops I was writing my post while you posted yours! Yeh only seems to be the one product of hers up there. I bought samples for some stuff – I had a look last night at the ingredients, did notice 3 different parabens in each product!
