How important is frangrance in your skin care?

I was wondering what everyones opinion on fragrance in skincare ranges is. For me, it is a very important deciding factor in buying/using a product – if I don’t like the smell of a product then i won’t use it, no matter how good it is meant to be. But then I have fairly good skin ie not sensitive, rarely breaks out, so i guess it is easier for me to be fussy with fragrances then say someone with sensitive skin?

What is everyone else like when it comes to the smell of your products?

I love a great smelling product. I happen to know that the Lendan Vitamin c products all smell like citrus orange and its not fragrance there is actually orange in the product. So I’m cool with that!!

It depends. If It’s my moisturiser, it sort of matters. But cleansers and things that’ll wash off aren’t too much of a big deal.

For me scent is actually the most important thing as I’m very sensitive to certain smells and can get headaches and even mild migraines. No matter how super-duper a product is if I can’t handle the smell I can’t use it.

Scent is important for me – if it smells awful I wouldn’t use and if I put it on my face and I can smell it, I’m likely to wash it off! I don’t mind products with no fragrance but I tend to buy products with fragrance. I’m like you beautystar haha.

I’m not a big fan of artifical fragrance, but don’t mind products that are scented with essential oils. I mean, can a chemical frangrace really be good for your skin? I don’t think so! Mel, I have the same trouble as you with things like Palmers…it’s that damn coconut perfume that gives me an immediate headache! Like you beautystar, if I don’t like the way a product smells I won’t buy it. I had this experience recently with a L’Occitane face cream – I really wanted to try it, but the perfume was unbelievably overpowering.

I like body wash, soap and body moisturiser to have a yumm smell.

Not into strong fragrances, but subtle ones for my face.

it is really nice to have a good smelling product and I wouldn’t go out and buy one that smells off or wrong, but the fragrence in products arn’t always best for the skin, I would rather buy a skin product not for smell but quality then go and buy a beautiful fragrence.
Hot tip: Spray the fragrence on your clothes rather then skin as it does effect skin pigmentation
    🙂 hope I’ve been helpful

I agree with the body products being scented – i need my shower gels to have a punch you in the face scent! i dont like them to be subtle at all. Same with body lotions and with soaps.

It is my first reaction to open a product tester and smell it before sampling it. I love the jurlique range and pod puraceuticals because they are so beautifully scented. I was going through my moisturisers this morning to see if most of them are scented and most of them are only subtly scented, which surprised me. But the products that really stand out in my mind are the quite scented ones.

I tried the paulas choice range once and just couldn’t bring myself to use it because I didnt like the smell. It took the pleasure out of skincare for me. Same with some of the joey new york products – i couldnt stand the smell of the egg cream cleanser so ended up chucking a nearly full bottle (that was before i discover the swaps here…though seriously I wouldnt want to inflict it onto someone else!).

My weakness had always been beautiful smelling body products. It all started when I was a child and loved soap. My parents couldn’t keep up with my desire to always have a new soap – in those days, Lux was the only soap with a lovely fragrance. We have come a long way since then. There is so much to choose from so I usually have about 3-5 different soaps and body washes on the go.

I prefer my facial skin products not to have too much of a scent but I am more interested in having products that work. x

I love yummy smelling body products and lightly natural fragranced facial products, not overly fussed on no smell at all however don’t like anything that is really artificially fragranced, things like Palmers skin care range actually gave me a headache coz of the horrible perfume added 🙁
