Highlight Kits

Does anyone know if those Garnier Highlight Kits actually work? Or do they just make the sections you Highlight look orange? I want to add a few DIY highlights and wondering which product works best.

dont do it! i have had too many hair disasters from supermarket hair dyes and then im embarassed to go to the hairdressers coz they are always like what have you done to your hair. the supermarket streaking kits dont have enough bleach in them to make your hair a nice blonde colour it is more orange. if you really want to do an at home thing i would recommend going to hairhouse warehouse and buying some of that bleaching powder that you mix with the activating stuff and getting a tip cap and doing it that way. then you know the bleach will be strong enough not to turn orange!

I`ve fortunately never had the inclination to diy my hair – I`ve always gone to a hairdresser. However my sister likes to believe she can do things the cheap way – and has had several disasters with at home highlight kits. I think you can only successfully dye your hair at home if you`re brunette and going different browns/reds etc or tints or whatever. But never ever do highlights – leave that to the professionals!!

My sister used it and ended up looking like a skunk and the colour came out really wired so it was of to the hair dresses to get fixed

I agree stay away from the highlight kits! I tried it once (year ago) and never again will I make that mistake again. My highlights turned out to be a weird shade of bronze and trying to fix it to forever. I`m surprised my hair didn`t fall out.

AVOID AT ALL COST!!!! In all honesty, you will end up paying more to have your hair fixed than the box of colour cost you. I have had to do so many `fix-up`s` from these dodgy kits…..any brand….they are all dodgy. If your hair doesn`t go orange, it will be a lovely shade of yellow! The colour `bleeds` onto hair that you dont want coloured and it is very patchy looking. You would be much better off going to a salon and paying to have it done properly…..that way you aren`t ruining your hair`s health with this product and having to have it fixed anyway.
