Help on how to make bed hair last all day?

Hi guys,

I need some advice &/or product recommendations…
I have very long, straight hair (past mid-back), that’s quite thin…so generally my hair is rather flat and not so voluminous. Plus I have oily hair i.e. I need to wash my hair every day. So for these reasons, but mainly the former…I really never leave my hair out. However, I quite like my bed hair because for some I wake up with nice waves and loose curls and VOLUME! So I was wondering if there is anyone who could give me some tips and recommendations for products they’ve tried for setting bed hair (i.e. real bed hair and not just the created version).

I’m considering spray wax because hairspray hasn’t worked for me in the past and mousse changes the shape of my hair…and unfortunately, attempts to recreate said bed hair have failed.
Any good spray waxes out their that won’t weigh my hair down and make my oily hair worse (I need to use dry shampoo occasionally, if I am having a long day e.g. 12hrs plus), preferably ones with nice fruity smells or without strong smells (I especially hate coconut-y smells)?

Thanks in advance!

I have a similar problem Carolinecaz, when my hair dries after I wash it, it dries in wonderful curly waves. But as soon as I brush it, the curls disappear and I’m just left with my normal waves 🙁 I’ve tried a mousse before, and it makes my curls even more defined, but if I brush my hair the curls still disappear :'( I may try the herbal essences tousle me softly spray too!

I would try dry shampoo 🙂 wash ahir at night, then dry shampoo it in the morning so you can keep the waves that develeoped with 8 hours of hard work =D

Sea Salt spray can be good for fine hair and dry shampoo can help lift and mess up the hair closer to your scalp. I have pretty short hair but it too is very fine and just loses all of it’s shape so fast plus a lot of products are too heavy. Good luck.

^ thats what I was going to suggest I have all the range and I’d probably suggest the spray one, you could probably spray when you go to bed the when you wake up spray with it or the hairspray again??

If it’s just a loose wave when you wake up, I suggest using some of Herbal Essences new Tousle me softly mousse. It’s generally meant for wet hair but can be used in dry if you use small amount, if you just put a bit through the middle of your hair down to the tips (not the roots though) and spray some hairspray with a bit of give, you can keep the style you woke up with.

Have you tried Redken Wax Blast 10 it is an awesome texturising product that keeps the style but still allows for movement, which I am guessing is the effect you are after ?? I always use my Redken Body Full Carbo Bodifier after washing but you said you don’t like mouse products and that is a root lifting mouse but the combination of the pair give my hair heaps of body and I have the finest hair around, this even worked well when my hair was really long. I have always found that the Redken styling products do exactly what they promise on my hair, never disappointed 🙂
