Help I am 5 weeks pregnant

I have read up on what I should do for a healthy baby (food vitamins etc) but I was just wondering what I should use to stop stretch marks and other problems that might occur. i know i shouldn’t use products with retinol (vit A) in them. Does anyone have any advice. this is my first baby.

    I tried cocoa butter on my skin, but sadly I got bad stretch marks because I was a very slim lady before. Also it is heriditary. If your mum had stretch marks you are sure to get them. I am just using Strivectin to get rid of stretch marks. hehe. But embrace pregnancy, it is actually a beautiful thing. You start to love the way you are when you are pregnant, and enjoy eating the things you indulge hehe. I think having a baby is the most beautiful process! Good luck

    I found the Palmer`s fantastic aswell! It really depends on your skin as to how many or how bad the stretch marks are that you get. For me there were some area`s that were doomed. Ask your mum (as it`s genetic) about the area`s she found were worst effected. Maybe then if you can really focus on these it will help the end result. Good luck and best wishes Dedide.

    It really is up to genetics but a few things that I think helped me were Ella Bache`s Floral Oil – through-out the pregnancy and beyond, massage it in the shower with a buff-puff, it smells gorgeous and keeps your skin all dewy and soft. I then followed up with Palmers cocoa butter.

    Make sure you are eating a healthy diet with lots of omega-3/6, veggies and water, etc. If you`re weight gain doesn`t exceed the normal gains for you then you`re less likely to stretch so much, plus all that healthy food will help the baby in it`s development.
    In regards to the raspberry leaf tea – be careful not to start it too early it is supposed to help bring on labour – read the pack for instructions anyway.

    i too used every sort of stretchmark cream but nothing worked for me. guess my skin isnt that stretchy.

    i used a heap of different stretch mark creams throught my first pregnancy, and it did nothing, i have terrible stretchmarks BUT afterwards i found bio oil and it made a huge difference from having big red gashes all over to having thin white lines.
    diet wise – folic acid tablets, high calcium foods, plenty of red meat for iron – but only buy the extra trim and try to avoid sausages, cold meats, raw egg (mayonaise) , soft cheeses (ricotta, brea etc.)
    and if you eat left overs make sure you reheat it til its steaming hot

    when you get to about 28wks raspberry leaf tablets can be beneficial in preparing your body labour (im not sure how but its supposed to help)

    But most of all, dont deprive yourself of things you enjoy, anyting in moderation is OK

    I used nutrimetics apricot oil moisturiser and had absolutely no stretchmarks

    the other thing to make sure you try to do is take your pregnancy vitamins and fish oil and eat lots of avocado, keep the skin hydrated from the inside out rather than the other way around.

    yeah congratulations:) like glosgirl said the cocoa butter from the body shop is good, for other things also than helping with stretch marks. i think bio oil helps heal and prevent stretch marks.
