Yeah, obviously some of the European chocolate is considered the best, but I just don’t trust anything made anywhere but there and Australia. I’ve even been a bit suspicious when i’ve seen food made in places like Greece and Turkey. There are so many countries that I just don’t trust in terms of food.
Of course 😛 That’s why I love white chocolate so much, i’m absolutely addicted to sugar. I can’t go more than a few days without eating lollies and I always have heaps of sugar in my tea. Who knows what i’d do if I ever turned diabetic. But I actually feel like I need sugar to pick me up, I feel like I have low blood sugar a lot so I always keep something with lots of sugar in my locker at work like lollies or dried fruit/fruit juice.
But back on topic, I just never liked the taste of milk chocolate (or dark chocolate) much when I was younger and I still dont.
lolz.. back on topic.
wasnt the topic about passover and or easter or other celebrating?
haha… chocolate is a good topic anyway. and im very bad myself already at turning threads on here to off topic talk.. so im guilty myself.I eat a lot of chocolate also but i actually kike the cadbury flavour, its better than waht i ate a kid/teen (asia choco or gross usa hersheys)
im addicted to the creme eggs.
but reallym if u can live healthy in othe ways.. putting the sugar in the body isnt so bad or the worst thing esp if u can use it up.. (lots of exercise, sex, or long active days will fix that! 😛 )
and its hardly as bad as vices of smoking, 2 much drinking, drugs etc..i guess i could say that my list of things i TRULY have addiction of time and love for is – long nails, high heels, big dogs, AND chocolate 😛

so long as its a nice time with ppl u wanna be around, its all good , right? i can agree with that personally.
Definitely. My bf’s family are so nice, they always make me feel welcome (the opposite of my family who don’t even make me feel welcome). I love spending holidays with them because there’s always nice food and at Christmas I always get spoiled because i’m the only younger girl that they can give makeup to. I got soooo much Clarins stuff at Christmas i’ve forgotten about it.
I don’t know how much chocolate i’ll get at Easter but i’ll probably let my boyfriend eat it because no one ever buys white chocolate and I always forget to tell people that I only like white chocolate.
Oh and speaking of Chocolate that’s made in Australia, I only buy chocolate that’s made in countries that I trust so no asian chcolate for me. I’m always suspicious because of the poor water quality in those countries and I can’t imagine what their quality control is like. If we have roach problems in Aus chocolate factories, I don’t want to imagine how relaxed they are about it in China. I saw some pretty eggs in Priceline (the LOVE brand) but put them down as soon as I saw “Made in China”. I don’t care if they say they use imported ingredients, that can mean anything!
i agree that some intl chocolate is great and some is crap! but also FYI u know that white chocloate is really just more sugar right? since its a diff formulation from normal chocolate.

Haha, yes it does get competitive! I think the coloured boiled eggs are a very old mediterranean/middle eastern way of celebrating easter. I prefer this way of celebrating, it’s less commercialised.
English easter is a joke in some ways…. Easter eggs are put onto shelves in january, and then they put up the prices of easter eggs a week before. Easter eggs are so overpriced compared to normal chocolate. A cabury block of chocolate is like $3.50, and one tiny cabury bunny is like $5.00! Hello, it’s the same chocolate, just shaped like a bunny! I refuse to be ripped off, I buy normal chocolate or the aldi 79c bunnies (chocolate is made in australia). I think as you get older, chocolate is just ‘chocolate’ and it doesn’t matter. Easter eggs are really just for kids.
Someone bought a giant Cadbury egg that was only 700g and guess how much it was? $30! I don’t buy Easter eggs because it’s just an excuse to buy chocolate and make companies like Cadbury richer. I also don’t like chocolate. When I was a kid I told my parents not to get me chocolate and just get me a little Barbie/Kelly doll in a bunny outfit and they did. I enjoyed it much more than chocolate and it lasted me longer.
When I was a kid my Greek grandparents always dyed eggs for Easter and did the cracking of eggs. There was also a special Easter cake that I can’t remember.
All i’m doing for Easter is enjoying my time off of work (after the mad rush on Thursday and Saturday) and spending it with my boyfriend and probably his dad (his mum is on holidays). I don’t talk to my parents so all holidays are spent with my boyfriend and his family. Much more enjoyable than spending time with my family 😛

Passover is like Jewish easter, am I right? Anyone know enough to explain where the tradition comes from and how it’s celebrated?
We (My Family), celebrate good friday so no meat only fish and then the traditional egg giving on sunday but no eggs for me since i’m allergic to an additive in most chocolate. Will treat myself to a little beauty haul 😛
Well i can give this a go until someone who knows more or actaully celebrates it can add info.
But what i know from my close friend and a few others is that its at the same time as easter but its not a jewish easter or a equivalent (just ad similar time of the yr)
And its very old, a major festival for the jewish year that is based on remembering the exodus of the isreaeliste from egypt, after the slavery adn 10 plagues and all that ( think of the 10 commandments movie ;P )
So its a special long meal that u have while following a book that has all these songs and steps to do of eating certain things and they are symbols of the past to keep the story of the history, thats how it got told to me.
And everyone gets a go to read or eat something so i felt really included. I got to be ‘the stupid or the young son’ in some part of the thing, whre im a role in a story lolz, i think they giave it to me coz was the outsider so it was part of the story !
There is some REALLY yum thing to eat but also some pretty bitter and sour stuff and i remmeber part of that was to remember bad times of 1000s of yrs ago. A really fun nite! The families there were very friendly and nice btu i know i got a LOT of weird stares coz of my nails (that is usual LOL!) but ppl were dressed more conservative than i expected. or maybe i shouldnt have worn my hair out and 5″ heels 😛so thats what i know – was i accurate, anyone jewish? 🙂
and im happy to answer more of what i knew or the way i remember the nite.
xSpot on Natrissara. The Passover has nothing to do with Easter but it often overlaps. It is a festival in memory of the Jews leaving Egypt. It lasts for 8 days during which you don’t eat products made from flour, so no bread for instance. That is in memory of the fact that the Jews didn’t have time to wait for the bread to rise when they had to flee. As with all Jewish festivals, there are special foods to eat and it is a time to invite non-Jewish friends to share in the meal and the rituals, including songs.
Eggs are a part of Passover in a different way to Easter. Part of the festive meal involves eating hard boiled eggs in salt water. As you said, you eat a combination of sweet and bitter things to recall different aspects of the exodus. Children play a big role in the evening as well. The youngest child at the table sings one of the songs that asks why is this night different from other nights?
Oh, and you have to drink many glasses of wine which is another ritual. The night usually is very long and if you are observant you have another Seder (the name of the meal) on the second night of Passover as well. Most people end up putting on a lot of weight over the 8 days!
So i did an ok job to try explain it , from what i knew? yay 🙂
yea i had eggs and that flat cracker inthe big squares- its really good ! where can i get it for myself? is it in special stores.
I liked being told to lean back and drink wine and the kids had their own grape wine bottle.
i havent been back for 3yrs btu i think i wanan go to one again someday. trying other religions and tradtionos makes me so hpapy with things in the world.
i would never hae had any isssues for that nite at my friends family place except for that i think i nearly gave her grandmother a heartattack when she saw all my sets of my nails haha (like iwas some witch lady 😛 )The flat cracker is called Matza (or Matzoh). You can buy boxes of it at supermarkets. The brand I like the best is Yehuda. It is what people eat instead of bread during Passover but some like to eat it throughout the year. I l like it with butter and honey or butter and vegemite (very naughty but nice!). BTW, I have to thank you for your recommendation in another thread regarding the white balm oil (white lotus flower?). I use tiger balm to relieve sore muscles but sometimes I don’t want the strong smell of the camphor so the white oil is great as a softer option. So glad you mentioned it. x
