Check this site out for the best straightener ever: http://www.stylegoddess.com.au I have really curly frizzy hair and so I straighten it alot and I can sometimes get dead spots but I`ve found a straightener, the VS Sassoon Goddess, that has steam and it adds moisture back into my hair. I love it. It`s fast, straightens my hair in a breeze and gives great results with the best shine ever! And the straight look lasts all night and into the next day! Highly recommend it and not as expensive as ghd.

and i wouldnt recommend silver bullet…before buying one i read some reviews and had noticed a few people`s has overheated the first time they used it but i ignored the warnings and went out and bought one anyway and sure enough after the first use the plates overheated and melted the surrounding plastic. be warned!!

cortec is by far the best! my sister has a GHD but is always stealing my cortec because she liked it better. cortec has full ceramic plates compared to GHD which is just ceramic coated and has started to wear away on my sisters. another good thing about the cortec is that it will automatically turn off if it hasnt been used for 2 hours which the GHD doesnt do but if it did it might have saved my sister from making a big burn mark on her bed!

I thought my Wahl was great… then I moved onto a GHD! Its faster, easier, does curls and does less damage to my hair. Also hair is less resitant to kinks/ going flat after GHD, every time I straighten with anything else it “”drops”” after a day. GHD keeps me going for ages! I cant recommend them enough.

GHD all the way!! I have had mine for just over a year now and am still in love with it! I put off purchasing it for about a year as I didn`t know if it would be worth the money, but for anyone who is thinking about getting one, DO IT!! it is the best I have ever used.
About those wet2straight ones, I used to use one all the time (when my hair was wet) and the steam singed my scalp and it was peeling and flaking for ages!! But my sister uses the slim wet2straight (on dry hair) and she seems to like it. However my hair is curly and frizzy and hers is already straight.

Elmo I have thick hair too and I have a wide plate straightener. And I find that all i have to do it go over sections once and its done. I got a Nova Brand , i`ve had it for years and it`s still brilliant. At the time i think it was $120 but also got a free hairdryer. Got that from a place called hair co-op, well my aunty grabbed it for me as she has a card cos it`s only meant to be for hairdressers and beauticians.

The Remington Slim Line Ceramic is the one I`m using – maybe a wider one for your hair type.
I don`t think it would matter – they both would do the same thing – you`d just have to leave the hair in it for longer thicker hair types.

I have thick, coarse hair, and a lot of it – I`ve always wondered if I should be using a wide straightener or if a narrow one is ok? I`m looking to purchase a new one soonish so wondering if anyone can recommend which size I should get or if it doesn`t matter?
