Getting rid of blackheads! Help!

Hey guys!

I was wondering if anyone had any products, or suggestions for getting rid of blackheads? I use a face mask at least once, sometimes twice a week. I exfoliate 2-3 times a week and have tried those pore strips, but I still can’t rid of them!

Any suggestions?

Palmers masks are great, I leave on for about 15 mins and then the next day they are almost gone 🙂

Exfoliate with bicarbonate of soda to reduce the black colouration of blackheads (due to oxidisation) and use pore strips on a weekly or biweekly basis. Toning with apple cider vinegar can also help in cleansing and tightening pores to prevent further blackheads.

Try incorporating a different kind of exfoliating into your regime.

I tried the pore strips in my teens. They work but it doesn’t clean it all! somehow it doesn’t go deep enough where are the yuckies are lurking.

Salicylic Acid works really well for blackheads.
It’s an excellent bha great for acne and white/blackheads.
I bought some aha/bha peels from makeupartistschoice, waiting for it to come.

Duality: where do you get your TCA peels?

For toner, i rotate between witchhazel to close the pores and rotate between my diy organic apple cider vinegar toner (natural exfoliator).
ACV contains malic acid and is a potent antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral substance capable of keeping bacteria at bay and pimples from forming. Other benefits are that it balances the skin pH and balances the production of sebum.

see photo for the apple cider vinegar. Try to get something with “mother”. The mother is the enzymes with healing properties.
You can make your own toner by mixing it 1:1, 1:3 or 1:4 with distilled water or hydrolysed floral water.

To play safe, i microwave the pure water in the microwave (you can boil it) to zap the bacteria. Wait until it cools to room temperature before you mix the ACV in. Buy the pure water in “woolies”. Its the closest i can get to “distilled”.

I don’t like the smell of ACV, i add a few drops of essential oils.

I saw this online I tried it and it worked. It’s a little messy but the results are great. “Mix the honey and the cinnamon together until you have enough paste to cover the affected area. Apply in a thin layer over the blackheads and then press a strip of clean cotton over it. Let it sit for 3-5 minutes before removing and rinsing your face. Don’t forget to follow up with a moisturizer”

Try using a product with 1 or 2% Salicylic acid daily.

Salicylic acid encourages the sloughing of dead skin cells and it also has the ability to penetrate into the pore. This advantage makes it very effective for improving blemishes, by breaking down blackheads and whiteheads, and clearing clogged pores.

preciousia (such a cute name!). I started using the Obagi Blue peel, but I had used higher % retinols for years so my skin was pretty tough so I knew I could handle a deeper peel. If you go well with that then you can do TCA but get it done by a dermatologist because there are several skin types that are unsuitable (girls of colour, Mediterranean, Hispanic, African American etc) and they can get hyper or hypo pigmentation. There are several ways to do a TCA peel too. It can be done at lower % layered, like 2 layers of say 15% or a one off 35% deep peel. I’ve done both and the 35% peel gave me really dramatic results, took 10 years off my décolleté and eye area. I get them done every 2-3 months on my face but avoid summer as I am pretty sun sensitive. With TCA they start you low say 8-15% then work upwards. Lower is better for younger skin, higher is used for removing wrinkles, creepy skin and pigmentation like freckles.
