Foundation recommendations please!
After reading the article on skin types I have discovered that I have combination skin (I think!) but it is also dehydrated. I swear I have tried a million different foundations out there…the ‘oil free’ ones make my skin too dry, and I always seem to end up with oily tzone anyway! Any suggestions?

Personally I`m a fan of Maybaline. Dream Matte Mouse foundation. It applies really well and stays on all day.

Hey,
I have combination skin as well, the winner I`ve found is MAC studio fix, it doesn`t dry my skin out but it doesn`t go oily later in the day! If your skin is more on the dry side then I would try estee lauder double wear, same formula mainly as the studio fix but has a few things added for dry skin!
Mac water proof foundation is also great but it`s very heavy so better for when you at going out, it would probably clog your skin if you used it every day

I really love the garnier BB cream. Make sure you get the oil free one though but you definitely wont find it to be too dry for you

I have just had the most amazing experience! I collect lots of samples of beauty products from magazines, and the other day I tried one of them, it was Estee Lauder`s “”So Ingenious”” foundation, and seriously it was, well, so ingenious! I have combination skin too, and I find that either my forehead looks really greasy, or my nose goes really flaky with most foundations, but this Estee Lauder one was INCREDIBLE!!! It`s definitely worth a try, most Estee Lauder countergirls will give you a sample to try, so I strongly recommend that. I checked this foundation out on e-bay and it was only going for like $30… I`m not sure how much it costs over the Estee Lauder counter though.

Glamourcat I just had a look on strawberrynet and they have your prescriptives foundation there for only about $41 AUD! However they do only seem to have one shade which is odd…but great if that`s your shade! I`m thinking I`ll go try and sample then hopefully get it cheaper on there or ebay or something! 🙂

Ok glamourcat I think you`ve convinced me!! Might have to wait til after my holiday coz I`m a tad broke saving at the moment! But I agree – with all $30 etc spent on heaps of different loreal/revlon etc, prob way better off getting something more suited to my skin! I`ll go scam a freebie…! Plus when I find that a foundation that I`ve bought is REALLY bad I end up either throwing it out or giving it away – such a waste!! I`ll give it a go and def let you know how it is when I do! 🙂 Thanks for all the advice – it`s what I needed!

About 10 years ago I had this amazing colourist (mind you, she was only 21 at the time, but AWESOME!) and we had really similar skin. She had been on Roaccutane though and this had unsettled her moisture levels, but we both used exactly the same foundation combination! Weird! lol We both used Prescriptives Oil-Free (which actually had a natural finish not matte) and mixed it with Revlon Colourstay for our t-zones… Anyway Prescriptives replaced the oil-free range a few years ago with Virtual Matte, which is not matte at all, but it is so lovely – then a few months later they brought out Flawless Skin and the chick in Mecca who knew my skin quite well gave me a couple of samples (a few different colours so I could mix to get the right shade) and I`ve been hooked ever since. I do try other foundations in-between but absolutely nothing compares to it. Seriously, if there is a Mecca near you PLEASE get a sample girl! lol 🙂 otherwise I may have to hunt you down and give you a sample myself! haha… a sample is free – it won`t hurt! 🙂 Actually, I would recommend you get a sample of each Virtual Matte and Flawless Skin. It might be expensive, but it lasts soooo much longer than any other foundation, so with all the $20-30 spent on the L`Oreal`s, Revlon`s, Max Factor`s – you`ll be saving money! Do you know how many people in shops ask me what foundation I`m wearing!? Lots… 😉
