Foundation discontinued :(

The other day I had a holy-grail moment with a foundation sample I found in an old magazine (only a year or two old). It was “So Ingenious” by Estee Lauder and it truly was THE BEST foundation I have ever tried (and trust me I’ve tried many, many, many different foundations). So, after wearing it for the day, and loving the result, I went to the Estee Lauder beauty counter at my local Myer to purchase a bottle…. the lovely girl behind the counter then told me that it had been discontinued, but she couldn’t tell me why, as she didn’t know (ARGH, ARGH, ARGH!!!!!!). It seriously really upset me, I was on a downer for the rest of the day. Has anyone else had a favorite product discontinued on them?

I hate it when they discontinue great products. I had 2 favorite clinique foundations that were discontinued, and the products they replaced them with were nowhere near as good.

thats really disheartening, hearing many estee lauder $$$ foundation bottles being thrown out, that`s really sad. they could`ve just waited until they`ve sold the last one and then start fresh, like other companies do.

    maybelline everfresh foundation!
i don`t know why this was discontinued. so many people came into work asking for it.
however i recently discovered a natio foundatio which is pretty damn close so i am content for the time being.

Thrown in the bin that`s an outrage! You`d think they`d sell them at some kind of price even if it`s like $5 or still give them away. Giving them to charity is a good idea too. There is a beauty workshop charity for women suffering from cancer. It`s a charity that helps boost womens self esteem while going through cancer treatment.

estee lauder have done this to me, i found the perfect foundation and the perfect colour, then they disscontinued it, i was lucky because my colour was not a popular one i was able to buy a couple of bottles. i am using my last one now, so i have started looking for a new one, i am keeping my eyes open for something similar but the colours are all wrong for me. the closest i have gotten is a perscriptives foundation, if nothing better comes up i will buy that. i also have a cheap australis foundation that i use on weekends or when i just need a really light foundation.

Totally agree, they should definitely donate it, I`m sure it would be much appreciated. It`s quite disgusting how much is wasted every year – not just cosmetics, but everything – food etc. Not only that, they could recycle the packaging at least too.

i don`t know if that`s what they still do, but it is what the staff told me they did, that was about 2 years ago. same for skin care, anything. one lady told me that the securtiy actually escorted them to their cars and watched them drive out of the car park so they couldn`t go get it from the bins. she just smiled and said her husband knocked off work early that day. i laughed and thought that was fab.
apparently when they discontinue a product they just want it gone and don`t want staff using it because they want them using the new stuff. i think they could donate it or give it to loyal customers too.

Shame on Estee Lauder, there`s enough waste in this world without them contributing too. No wonder they have to charge so much for their products, to cover the products they toss away.
