I have had many of these i have one email account I use soley for ebay and paypal and have been getting a few lately. I suspect it is from international ebay users as I only started to recieve them after a few interantional transactions.
a tip look at the email address not the BCC one as you can type anything there but the actual email account it was sent from most are like the one rmfer86 listed above.
Also if you do click the link check that there;s a padlock in on the right of the top toolbar and only access you ebay messages through ebay not your linked account.

    Thank you,

It came from the address PayPal (paypal@mail.nu) which doesn’t look right either. Seriously, if I had stuff on ebay and i didn’t read through it properly, I would click on this stuff! Best to always go through your account on each website.

I had the same one but I never open them ever. Always log into your account via paypal directly

i’ve had a recurring one last month stating it’s paypal and that my creditcard info has been changed, really well designed email looked like the real thing right down to email address it came, and was set up with a click here link attempting to catch out anyone not in the know. I sent it to the spoof email address mel posted here so they could look into it sadly It’s still circulating but paypal have emailed and assured me it’s a fake and that they are looking into it. Hope these scammers get caught, karma to them i say!

Thanks so much for this warning -I did receive this hoax email and remembered seeing this post on BH. I also remembered that they would always refer to me by name in any email. I deleted the email.

  • 14 yrs, 11 mths ago

yep thats what happened, i forwarded it to paypal straightaway, then deleted them

paypal emails will always address you by your first and last name, anything else is a scam

  • 14 yrs, 11 mths ago

Just delete it after forwarding it to spoof@paypal.com that way they can keep track of the spams and get rid of them before too much damage is done 🙂
