Eyeshadow for Glasses

I wear small glasses with dark blue rims. I’ve got pretty bad eyesight and can’t go without them, and contacts always leave my eyes feeling itchy so I prefer to wear glasses. For big events I’ll switch to contacts and feel uncomfortable the whole night…

I was wondering if anyone has any good tips for eye makeup for people with glasses? Sometimes there are looks glass-wearers can’t pull off, like the smoky eye. So any tips to brighten my eyes and make them the focus and not the glasses?

When wearing glasses a tip is to also concentrate on your eyebrows too as they stand out more than the eyes.

thank you so much everyone for your replies 🙂 I will spend my Saturday morning testing out these looks. I like the idea of going for a brown smoky eye, not the same intensity as totally black but still enough to pop… good tip on the illuminator too, I’ll accentuate my cheeks a bit more.

I do a smokey eye in brown hues. My glasses are rimless and have gold legs (I can’t remember what the things are called :P). I also, like Hely have thick black rectangular frames and I apply two coats of volumising mascara and apply just neutral tones and ensure I highlight my cheeks slightly so I’m not drowned out with my glasses. White eyeliner in the inner corner of your eyes also opens them up.

Lighter shades are definately your friend Bide. A bit of illuminater in the inner corner of your eye will also make your eyes brighter. I even extend powder illuminator right along the bottom of my eyes. Works for me. It’s kind of my alternative to using white eyeliner.

I have glasses too they are fairly thick black rimmed ones in a rectangular shape (that I should wear more often and am really trying to). Having nice big black lashes help too. Anything really that opens your eyes and makes them look brighter will do the trick.
