Electric toothbrush
Hi all,
I’m thinking of purchasing an electric toothbrush but want opinions if it’s better than a normal toothbrush. What is a good brand and does it last a long time eg battery as well as the brushes?

There’s NO WAY I would spend $200 on a toothbrush. NO WAY!!! I could buy 10 amazing skincare products for that. Especially when I can clean my teeth myself for the cost of a $5 toothbrush.

I use an oral b electric too (as recommended by my dentist). It’s just the $45 basic one (which times two minutes so I know I’m brushing for long enough). I leave it on charge when it’s not in use and I will never have to replenish the batteries. I also floss once a day, and use mouth wash after brushing.
I was using my manual one until I wnet to the dentist and ended up needing 3 fillings 🙁

Definitely get a better clean with an electric toothbrush. It does take some getting used to the difference. Mine is an Oral B, not the top end of the market, just one from Target which I think closts around $60-$80. Heads are around $22 for 4 new ones. I change mine once every two months. Really love it. The toothbrush just sits on the charger all the time, and is always ready to use. More than one person can use the same handle. Each person just needs their own head, and most of the them come with a caddy on the back which can hold all the heads that are in use.

El Cheapo here LOL
I bought a spinbrush one from chemist warehouse for $8 about 6 months ago, I love it, got a heap of refill heads for $2 for a twin pack, leaves my teeth feeling nice, highly recommend it! Still haven’t had to change the batteries either with twice daily use

I bought an Oral B 3000 series during the Boxing Day sales from the Shaver Shop. It was a great purchase.
Charging time is good – one charge can get you about 2 weeks’ worth of brushing so you can take it with you on holidays.
It was $79.95 (originally $159.95 with 50% off during the sale) so if you want to invest in a good electric toothbrush, wait for a good sale.
I like the different speed options – you can also massage your gums or use the tongue-cleaning setting.

Oral B is a fantastic brand as their electric toothbrushes come is a wide range with afforable to expensive models. I’ve been using my electric toothbrush for years and it feels weird going back to the manual brush. Despite feeling cleaner when using the electric toothbrush, I find the brush head from the electric toothbrush to produce less foam compared to the larger brushhead of the manual one.
