dry skin on my finger- wont heal

I have really dry cracked skin on my left index finger. I’ve tried every thing, from moisturising cream to antibiotics. I’ve had it for 2 years and it still wont completely heal. Does anybody know what this is, or how I can treat it?

Could also be something fungal (sounds icky I know), if you see your pharmacist they may be able to give you something over the counter to try.

I`m assuming you saw a doctor when you were prescribed antibiotics for it? Like everybody else recommended – you really need to go back to your GP – sores or any skin conditions that don`t heal aren`t good. Or is it something that often rubs against something? It may be a callous or something?

Hartlucy do you work with chemicals, have your hands in water frequently or pulled the skin from the quick on this finger. If so, have a chat with your GP or if your not keen chemists are trained in many forms of ailments and will recommend a solution in no time.

Let us know how you go!

That doesn`t sound very pleasant at all hartlucy! If you`ve had it for 2 years I think you should really see a doctor – that doesn`t sound right to me – and pink sapphire`s right – you may need to be referred to a dermatologist.

that sounds really uncomfortable, you poor thing! I would see a doctor about it, they might refer you to a dermatologist who should be able to identify it and prescribe something to help it heal.
