Dress advice

Hi Beauties,

I don’t usually do that but this time I made an exception…
I am going to the wedding in August (it’s in the UK – Oxford exactly). Lately I scored myself a bargain in Temt nothing over $15 kind of store.
I really like the dress but I don’t want to look cheap (original price of the dress was about $50 and I paid $10), especially that by partner is a best men.

Do you think it will be still appropriate to wear it on that occasion?

Any tips on shoes, clutch (or a handbag) and jewelery would also be much appreciated…

Here’s how the dress look like…please ignore my messy hair 🙂

Thanks for all the tips, beauties. Now I have better idea what I want.

Spunkx: I really love the idea about adding some purple, I am not sure if I am game enough to do that (especially in traditional Oxford), but will have a look…

Magda I love this style and colour on you. You have a perfect figure and this dress shows it off. It looks great. I would keep all accessories minimal and although I dont personally like silver (Im a gold person) I really think silver would compliment this dress so much. Some dangly silver earrings and a silver bangle would be nice but I would steer away from a necklace as the dress has enough detail on its own. I would also add silver strappy shoes and a silver handbag. You will be a knockout. (not that you arent already) but I think you will look stunning. Enjoy your holiday and catching up with your family in Poland. Im sure you will have fun and lots to talk about.

I’ve actually seen this dress in real life at Temt, I think at the end of last year – it’s gorgeous! I was considering buying it in a royal blue colour, but didn’t really have anywhere special to wear it. It looks lovely on you, and no one at the wedding would ever know what shop you got it at or how much – it looks stunning on you!!!

That is such a nice dress Magda and the colour suites you and it looks great on. I would either wear black shoes and clutch or silver but depends what you have at home (that’s if you aren’t planning on buying new shoes and bag). I wouldn’t wear a necklace but would wear earing and bracelet/bangles. Have a great time overseas and enjoy the wedding.

What a fantastic bargain Magda!! I love the detail on the strap and it seems to be cut quite well too. You definitely would never know you paid so little for it.
A different idea for accessorising this kind of colour – you could go for a jewel colour theme… maybe some royal purple pumps, bright bangles and a more simple clutch. I like to have fun with accessories and mix it up, but everyone’s different.

Magda, you look great in the dress. I would do a metallic shoe and matching clutch bag in a dull gold or platinum rather than black. I also agree with others that a necklace would be too much and rather go with great earrings and a big bangle. Have a wonderful time in Poland and at the wedding! x

If you hadn’t have said how much you paid for the dress I would have thought it cost so much more! It suits you well so if you are comfortable in in then you definately should wear it.

Make sure you wear a hat to the wedding. It’s the proper thing to do in the UK and you may get frowned upon without one.

That’s good to know…I was worried about the dress and there might be another faux pas waiting for me 🙂

My trip to the UK is only a quick stop, but the real treat is that I am going to Poland 3 weeks beforehand to spend some time with my family. Can’t wait to see them 🙂

How could you ever go wrong in any dress Magda84! You have a perfect figure and so that dress looks perfect on you. No one would ever no it was a sale item and men certainly don’t seem to know about prices, especially when a dress can look that good!

My tips? It’s quite a statement on it’s own with it’s beautiful bright colour and fancy over-shoulder strap so if it were me I’d be keeping anything extra very simple. It’s elegant in it’s cut and style so I’d only add elegant, modern-classic type accessories. I’d actually skip a necklace altogether because there is already a significant feature strap attached to the dress. A simple, bold modern cuff bangle in silver/gold (silver would be my choice) and silver/gold simple style shoes (silver again would be my personal choice).

With not wearing any necklace you could wear some modern, long-drop earrings (in matching silver or gold keeping in tune with what you pick for your shoes & bangle). I’d then have a small matte-silvery grey clutch – something very simple and little which is easy to hold and doesn’t stand out too much.

This was fun Magda! Hope it is helpful too!
