I have a gorgeous maltalier puppy called Bella. A maltalier is a cross between a cavalier and a maltese.

He was 50 kilos. I had to go to puppy school with him because before that when i`d try to take him for a walk he ended up taking me for a walk and dragging me on my bum. It must have looked so funny. I had him for eight years. My children still say goodbye to him everytime we leave the house.

I`m so sorry Pretty in pink. Zeus sounds like he would have scared a few people initially with his size but what lovely breeds to cross; absolutely gorgeous. (What did he weigh??) It`s so hard to deal with the death of a much loved puppy. They get to be so much a part of the family don`t they? It`s hard to grieve cos some people don`t understand how much a part of the family pets become. What makes me smile about having such a big puppy is that adults will pull their kids and smaller dogs away and comment on Tess` size but little kids will be heard saying wow look at that puppy. Maybe they have no concept of size or the dangers but I find them cute that they`re not scared of her where as their parents are..she`s a gentle giant too.

I have a small yappy dog and he drives me nuts but he is so cute you have to love him anyway. Leoluvsrob I had a Bull mastiff x ridgeback x great dane x bull arab named Zeus. My girlfriend specifally bred him that way. We used to call them the super breed. Big power gentle giants unless you tried to mess with someone in the family then he wasn`t quite so gentle. He had to be put down the day after boxing day the year before last because he had a fast growing cancerous tumor in his neck and I am still trying to come to terms with it. I miss him so much. He was so beautiful. He thought he was a person. My five year old is still trying to come to terms with his death as well. Very hard to explain. One day I will have another big dog.

Oh sorry to hear that starrry eyed its great she is beter now! Animal abusers are some of the most cowardly bastards around. It just puzzles me how people can abuse an animal, big or large, when they cant defend themselves and even if they could its still horrible. People whjo abuse animals should be locked up in a cage for a week and eat scraps and see how they like being abused! not really, but they do deserve punishment.

I have a maltese shitzu, who is small and so loving! I`m not a fan of yappy dogs, but even though Brodie is so small, he NEVER makes a sound, except when big dogs approach and he growls at them, like he thinks he could take them on! So cute. He follows my mum around the house, gets under our feet and trips us up, because he can`t stand being alone. We were his third owners,he was abused by his first two owners when he was just a puppy =[ When we got him he was so nervous and jumpy! Poor darling. He`s settled down now though.
I`m actually a bit scared of some big dogs, as one time,a huge one came and grabbed my bare foot in its mouth and started growling. -

We`ve had a few dogs over the years and I`ve loved them all. We had a Rotti and a mastiffxridgeback. They unfortunately got out of our yard in a storm one night and found there way to the railway line……….I cried for weeks, we didnt have kids then so our puppies were our babies. Then we got two pit bulls and I really hate to say it `cause they were so sweet and loving, but with all the publicity that was going on at the time with the breed and then them becoming restricted, after talking to our vet we had to make the very hard decision to have them put to sleep. It wasnt worth the risk to our kids. Dont worry, I beat myself up over this decision every day ad I`m a big believer in the saying that its not the dog, its the owner, but if anything did happen, I just wouldnt be able to live with myself!
Now we have a big beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer and he is a bounding, affectionate great big ball of love. We sort of `inherited` him and now I cant imagine life without him.Wow, long post. Sorry girls!
