Do vitamin c skincare products cause blemishes?

As someone mentioned on another thread – she believed vitamin c products should be avoided by pimple prone skin. I actually asked my new beauty therapist about this on Friday (as she used a vitamin c cream on me) and she said that it all depends on what form the vitamin c comes in. There are some serums like the Ultraceuticals C-10 serum which are not recommended for acne-prone skins as the way the vitamin c is formulated in that product can potentially cause problems for people already prone to acne.

Just thought I’d clear it up anyway – but the Ultraceuticals Ultra C Sheer creams are absolutely fine – they help heal the skin faster and strengthen it and reduce redness! 🙂

There is not enough evidence to support the claims that vitamin C serums can cause acne. So it is really effective.

    Thanks mel 🙂

You actually shouldn`t take any vitamins without professional recommendation – especially for those that can build up in your body (unlike vit c tablets which are water soluable).

Peggy it is topical vitamin c that everyone is talking about, lol, not the ones you swallow 🙂

Exactly – and what if you use too much?! I think it`s dumb – and dangerous!

No I am definately always in a hurry and want something that does not need me to muck around brewing up formulas, lol.

Yeah it`s not all that user friendly is it?

I agree she suggested that if it was something you have to mix up yourself you would probably tend to neglect using it as much as you should, lol.

Oh right – that`s interesting! But yeah – I`d much rather just apply a pre-mixed product myself! Much easier. I think it would be risky in case you use too much? Very odd…

Elmo I found out about that 100% vitamin c product, the fact is it is 100% but it is actually a powder so you have to make up your own mix so to speak, it is just a bit inconvenient so I think i will stick to a serum myself 🙂

Will do Elmo, it seems pretty cheap but like you the strength concerns me, will be better to get a professional opinion.
