Department Store Makeover – free with purchase

Hi guys,

I am going to a wedding in a couple of weeks and am toying with the idea of going to a beauty counter at a department store to get them to do it. I know a lot of places will do your makeup for free if you spend a certain amount.

Does anyone know what the amount for various counters is?

I am toying with either
MAC
Napoleon (I think his is $75)
YSL
Dior

I particularly want to get the YSL French Manicure Nail pens and figure this might be a super cheap way to do it.

Thanks guys!

What? I had no idea you had to pay for them?
i`ve never paid for a makeover with some samples thrown in!

I get them all the time…
I`ve recently had them at EL, Bobbi Brown, Lancome, YSL, Clinique

I just generally have a chat to the SA and they usually ask me if I want one, they seem to get bored sometimes and enjoy showing off their talent. I have met some amazing MUA SA in Myer and DJ`s.

Mac i think is $75 but redeemable on products

Glamglee they give out free makeovers all the time but if u want something special like wedding formals and so on you can book someone to do it for you

Funnily enough while I was getting my makeover at YSL the girl mentioned she was also a clairvoyant… she did a free reading on me! it was amazing!

A big hello and thank you to Adelle from YSL

Atm the moment I`m juggling between
    YSL
    Chanel
    Shiseido
    Mecca Cosmetic
    Kit Cosmetics

    And maybe:
    Givenchy
    Clinique
    Laura Mercier

I`ve decided not to choose MAC as it`s pretty pricey and Im not particular after any of the products- yet lol

Do you girls have any tips?
I guess it really all comes down to whether you`re lucky on the day and get a good make-up artist…

There are a lot of different looks when you go to a Mac counter. A lot of goth, punk and probably skanky chic (LOL) too. It`s not like Clinique where they where the hospital style dresses.

No matter how trained you are, sometimes you just suck at doing make up! Or perhaps that was the look she was going for – Skanky Chic? hehe

can you believe, i love MAC, but went to the counter at chermside the other day to be met by a girl who had used a trowel to apply her foundation and had mascara under her eyes and smuged her eyeliner. i just couldn`t buy from her. i am going back when the other girl or boy are there as they always look fantastic.

I`d personally go for Mac as well if you want to get a department store makeover. Everytime I`ve had eyeshadow or other makeup applied from a Mac consultant they`ve done a fantastic job.

Thanks everyone. MAC is probably where I will go. I am going into the city today to scout out who to get it done by. I really do want that YSL French Mani pen, but don`t really want to pay over $80 for it. But if YSL don`t look any good, I think I will go with MAC.

I also plan to take the dress along with me (or at least a photo of it) so they know colours, etc to use. Being a wedding, I don`t want anything to heavy!

i got a make over from the bobbi brown counter in David jones, it was fabulous, i paid about $50 for it, but got a $50 voucher to spend on products. i think it depends on the makeup artist but generally they are not too bad.
having said that i had an estee lauder make over a while ago and it was terrible, i was going out for a big night but had to rush home and take it off and start over the lady that did it, completely ignored what i liked and decided that i needed lots of foundation and i looked like i had a rubber face.
