Calling all dark-skinned girls!!

Hi all, im currently on the lookout for a new foundation however cant find my perfect colour!!

For a long time i was wearing napoleon perdis in 5b, however have also used nars sheer glow in tahoe ( too ashy) , giorgio armani hydra glow, clinique (too red), and now im mixing MAC nc40 and nc43 to get the right yellow based but not to dark colour!

I have tried becca stick foundation, but im having the same problem with it as napoleon that its too heavy, too oily and doesnt have a matte finish.

I have oily skin, so i prefer a matte finish without having to use a powder so that by the time my skin gets a little oily, it actually looks dewy.

Are there any MAC nc40 – nc43’s out ther who can rec anyother good brands with a good colour range i can try out in Australia?

TIA beauties! x

I am south asian and have similar skin tones to Indians ….Im currently using MAC NC43, that is the only foundation which is almost spot on for me ….Like someone else mentioned here, invisible zinc tinted sunscreen has a darker shade which matches my skin.

Revlon rich ginger was too dark for me,…when i tried it on it was ok, when i used it at home it made me look darker and asher …

Loreal golden beige powder is good for me .
I totally understand that it is so difficult to find foundation for people with golden yellow undertone.most of the colours for me have a pink undertone which make my skin ash.

Another option is getting stuff down from India.

Thanks Sudha84, I will check out the invisible zinc foundation. I definitely find that some foundations can look ashy on my skin, and although I have dark skin, my undertone is not really warm, its neutral to cool which I find very hard to match. Which Indian products do you use? I have to buy most things online from either the US or UK to get the match right (and buy at least 2 shades) which is also hard when you cant see the colour in person!

    Hi Ladies,

I just posted a thread on makeup for darker skin under the “Makeup” topic. I just joined Beauty Heaven and would love to know which brands darker skinned ladies use in Oz. I am struggling to find foundation/concealer that suits my skin tone. There are the obvious choices such as MAC, Becca & Bobbi Brown but I find their prices pretty expensive and not always easy to find in stores where I can swatch & compare colours etc.

Which foundations do you use and where do you buy your makeup? Are there any brands that you cant find here in Oz that you want to buy?? I am super interested in people’s opinions as I have just started a make up blog… please check it out:

    Thanks guys!

Nice post DG – so very very lovely 🙂

WEll its clear we can all agree that MJ is probably not ageing!!
I coulld never have picked an age over 30 either, was thinking mid 20s..
And also that bailey has some amazing hair – for the shine and the color blend (you do really well to stop it going brassy with that look)

As for the biting of nails… aww . .well u nkow u never have to actually ‘give up’ – u can always ALWAYS improve ur nails, it just has to be frm a willing gal who can agree to put some small daily care to them. talking like 10mins is enough. Nails can always be rescued – whether is from a biter, or someone who really gave them a beating from acrylics. Its just a matter of time, dedication – and know the good care systems (like ive written up in the nails/hands section)
Ill be happy to try and help u out DG if u want some advice- no probs at all! Ive spent waht feels like all my life doing good care and just growing and growing them!!

Wow, so much to catch up on!
Bailey, joining the fan club, love your hair!!

Mural Jewel, unbelievable! I would have said you are about 25 tops 🙂 Dark skin girls have less sun damage too, which may delay ageing. You have gorgeous, flawless skin (even without that foundation) Thanks for the pics 🙂

Nat, rawr, nice claws! Like Nadia, I bite my nails too. Nothing has worked for the past 22 years. I have given up on my nails lol

Nadia, so glad you liked watermelon! It is such a nice shade and goes very well on the lips. Burts Bees lip shimmers are my HG lipstick/balm/gloss all in one 🙂

Wow, that is a great bargain on that foundation, thanks for that Mzluvinkhim 🙂 I am very tempted to buy it, but I am good for now I guess.

Not sure if you girls are interested but Furless cosmetics has two shades of their mineral foundation that is good for Indian, Hispanic, Asian or Polynesian skin tones and they are selling them out at $4.95 usually $29.95

oh these look lovely! $4.95 what a steal!

I know they look amazing… too bad i am as pale as can be lol… only bad thing is that this line is being discontinued so if they are good you won’t be able to get them anymore.
