Best Aftersun Gels?

I’ve tried a few; I’ve been trying to compare Coles to Ausscreen, my sister says Ausscreen works better but I can’t really tell the difference. I’ve used Sunsense Aftersun Spray, it smells delicious and feels good for a little while, but I reckon gels give better results.
Give me your opinions, anyone else know of the best aftersun products?

Any aloe vera I find the soothing gels work better than aloe moisturiser

  • I use a after sun spray over a gel. The brand is Banana Boat and it is called Aloe Vera spray. It is really soothing, has a nice smell and is so easy to use. I hope this helps.

Aloe Vera gel is unbeatable I find. The plant itself can be quite easy to grow if you’re game. Simply snap off a leaf and use the cool sap within.

Hello! Maybe try out the banana boat or even coles aloe vera after sun gel? These are supposed to cool you down and soothe sun exposure and sunburn. I’ve heard they’re really good!

Thursday Plantation Aloe Vera Gel, keep it in the fridge for an extra cooling effect on your skin.

Palmer’s Aloe Gel has helped me after a sunburn.
The best used to be A’Kin’s emergency gel but they don’t make it anymore 🙁

I recently got mega sunburnt in Fiji and decided to try the Coles Aftersun Soothing Gel. It was quite moisturising and soothing but it doesn’t contain much aloe vera at all, so it doesn’t have the healing capabilities of other ones – I ended up peeling even after using it religiously several times a day. I previously used Thursday Plantation’s Aloe Vera Gel, which is more pricey but better value because it actually contains mostly pure aloe vera gel and I think a small amount of preservative. I will purchase the Thursday Plantation one in future. The Coles one has its virtues and is alright if you’re on a budget, but it isn’t the best option for healing burns.

I am a fan of the spray type bottles – particularly Soov’s spray which has a pleasant smell and is really gentle and cooling. It helps the healing process along and doesn’t leave your skin tight or feeling tacky but there is some drying time. I also enjoy aloevera gel/sprays but I much prefer grabbing some out of the garden and whacking it in the freezer or fridge for a while to cool it down even more 🙂

I recently stupidly got very burnt on my back. I showed my therapist and she recommended a Sun Repair Balm. It was a light milky texture and felt heavenly on my burn. I did peel slightly but I definitely found comfort from the balm.

Sounds lovely, what brand is it, I am really big on balms, I find them really effective 🙂
