BDo BLACKHEAD strips work?

Do they really work. I have tried a few and all it leaves is sore skin. Is there a technique to this?

It must really depend on the person and their skin type as they always work for me (I have quite oily skin though). I don’t use them all the time though because it doesn’t pull out as much gunk when you do it every week. I do them once a month now (after a shower) and use the Biore Original ones. My boyfriend uses the same ones and they work great for him too.

    YES! And I love them.
I use the Biore Ultra strips (the regular strips don’t work, buy the ultra strips). You have to clean your skin first, then I hold a very hot towel against my nose for about two minutes, I stand over the sink while I do it so that I can keep wetting the towel with hot water when it cools off a little bit. The hotter the towel is, the better the strip will work.
Steaming your skin with the hot water opens your pores and lets the strip adhere to the blackheads.

*You cannot talk or eat while the strip is on.* The strip won’t set properly to your skin because your nose will keep moving. If you talk or eat, it’s not going to work well.

I leave the strip on for about 10-15 minutes then peel it off carefully from one end to the other.

I use a pore strip every week and I highly recommend them. You can buy the Biore Ultra strips from Coles and some pharmacies.

That’s a good tip about the steam!

I think they only work if you have alot of blackheads on your nose. When I have used them (i washed my face before… etc) , they don’t really do anything.

The instructions say to wash your face before using the strips but when I do this I never get anything out but if I apply them to unwashed skin I usually get heaps out. I usually do it in the mornings so although my skin is uncleansed it doesn’t have any makeup on it – I think makeup would stop the strip from working. I also gently run my nail of my nose before using it to lift up the blackheads so the strip can grip into them.

They never seem to work on me either, but like Beautalicious I do scrubs etc during the week.. But I too might give it another try and see if it works..I like the sound of that DIY strip..

They never work on me because my pores are quite small. They work better on larger pores I reckon. They just leave my nose sore and red.

I think I will give that one a try too. I love reading ideas of things you can DIY at home.

I watched a Michelle Phan video on youtube where she makes her own pore strips using gelatine powder and milk, microwaved it for a bit and applied it.
She shows a close up of the strip afterwards (it dries just like paper) and it seemed to really work. So i’m keen to try that one out!

My ex boyfriend and I would do a blackhead nose strip once a week. He would get amazing results, I would marvel at how awesome his strip would be. It was covered with yucky blackheads. Unfortunately for me I rarely get anything from using the blackhead strips.
However, I exfoliate and use a blackhead scrub during the week as well. So possibly I have less gunk to remove than he does.
I think its a fun part of the beauty routine.
What we would do was heat up water and place face washers in the basin then put them on a noses for 2 minutes to open up the pores. Then wetting the nose strip we would apply the strip for 15 minutes.
It would take him a few minutes to peel off as he said it was painful.
I may do one this weekend and photograph the results.
