Allergic reactions to skincare
Anyone ever have an allergic reaction to a skincare product? If so, what was the reaction? I had a reaction to a dove bodywash and got a rash all around my torso.

i`ve had acne ever since i was 13
when i first started developing ti my dad took me to the chemist so they could help find me a good skincare regime, the lady recommended this lotion and cleanser (cant remeber the name) and told me to use the cleanser twice a day and the lotion every morning, the cleanser was ok but the morning before school i used the lotion, it went on ok and didnt brn or anything, but after i dried my face i could feel a slight tingling sensation, i loked in the mirror to see if my skin looked any better but to my horror my face was bright red and my nose and under my eyes were starting to burn, i dont know what was in the lotion but what ever it was , was obviously too strong for my skin, i ened up having blisters on my nose(my nose is especially sensitive , even now) and redness under my eyes for the rest of the week
(just tols myt friends it was sunburn) -

i used nair hair removal cream and had an awful reaction to it. i used it once (after a patch test) and it was fine, but when i used it a second time it started burning after a few seconds and then, after i washed it off, my legs were swollen, bumpy, red, and shiny. it took two days and a trip to the chemist for some cream (magic stuff) for it to go away. on the first night the pain was so bad i had trouble sleeping. i will never EVER use a cream or gel hair remover again, even if it says sensitive. the chemist said that the creams are purely chemical, so they are the most common form of hair removal to cause reactions. i now shave.

I get reactions to almost everything, even water causes my skin to get really red and inflamed – fortunately that has stopped happening since I`ve been using the Aveda All Sensitive line of products, they`re amazing for really crazy skin. I use QV wash on my body, or sapoderm medicated bars, they`re about all I can use at the moment.

I`ve never really had sensitive skin though I usually use the soap free and sulphate free bodywashes, just because I know they don`t contain so many chemicals, especially those cause cancer causing ones. but the dove bodywash was bought for me by someone else. I am currently using a bodywash by the name of Pureheaven, in Cranberry Crush-And it`s so lovely, the smell is the absolute best.

I get a rash from dove soap and their other products. I also have had allergic reactions from clear and clear cleanser, ten-o-six foam cleanser, johnsons and johnsons facial bar, johnson and johnsons holiday skin moisturiser not to mention numerous shampoos/conditioners as they run over my body and a lot of other products. The reactions were generally redness, bumps, ichyness, pimple like spots, etc.

products like dove bodywash contain fragrances and other ingredients which can irritate your skin. I`d stop using this product and switch to something more gentle. QV Gentle Cleanser is a great body wash for sensitive skin.

Its most likely you have very sensitive skin, I have to be careful too, use specific products for sensitive skin and go easy, cut down on the exfoliation. the ingeredients in products are to blame , there is a glossary on this site to help, for me it was/is all trial and error. I found the really cheap products caused more irritation.
I used Nutrogena a couple times (posted on the organic topic)
and my skin became red, sore and raised with liitle blisters (like I was burnt) It was horrible.
