If you have an iPhone5 with battery life issues…

So, not related to beauty but something pretty important.

I’ve got an iPhone5 and my battery runs out extremely quickly. I have to turn the Bluetooth off, I make sure there are no other applications running in the background and I still have to recharge it at least once a day even with limited use.

If you are like me and you rely quite heavily on your phone, this is a problem that may drive you quite nuts.

I’ve recently discovered this is not an uncommon issue with the iPhone5, and you may be eligible for maintenance with Apple. You will need to obtain your phone’s serial number (go to Settings > About > Serial number – via scrolling down), then go to the Apple website, specifically to the Support section for iPhones. Scroll down and you will see a hyperlink for the iPhone 5 Battery Replacement Program.

I followed the instructions for this and have an appointment to visit the Genius Bar at my local Apple store this afternoon (this has all happened in the last 50 minutes).

I’ll keep y’all posted!

Wow, my son was complaining about this last week too and his phone just suddenly went dead . Lucky only the one son , we allowed him to have an IPhone 6 and is happy with this. The problem with the Iphones is the batteries are built within the phone ( sneaky ) , so check the prices as it maybe dearer than you think. Thank you for this thread .

I always figured my battery was crappy because I played a lot of high powered games, listen to music and used Wifi a lot but I only upgraded to an iPhone 5 in November 2014 and I have to charge mine up at least once a day.

But I’m fairly sure I screwed the battery from the beginning because when I first got it, the battery was at like 10% and I charged it up to 20% then I had to work and then I used all the battery on the bus ride home and I think I over charge it too. Especially if I put it on charge before I go to bed.

But I’ll look into getting a replacement battery. Cos I’m sick of charging it all the time and having to bring my charger with me.

    Oh, another hot tip:

Save yourself a whole bunch of anxiety and remember your password when you restore your backup of your phone. For some reason I forgot mine (perhaps in the excitement of hanging out with cool Super-Craig plus getting a new phone) and I had to go through my list of passwords, hacker-style, to restore all my contacts, photos, videos, encryptions (you get the picture) on the darn thing.

    Still worth it!

Well, it goes to show what happens when you look into things, lovelies! Here I was thinking it was just me and my first-world phone issues!

I’ve just gotten back from the Genius Bar. Not only was it my battery, but Super-Craig (that’s what I’m calling him) gave my phone a complete once over and decided my on-off switch (tee hee) was behaving in an unusual manner. It didn’t help matters when Super-Craig and I were having fits of laughter over the on-off switch.

Any-hoo, Super-Craig hooked me up with a brand new phone. I got a bit worried, as my old phone had a couple of naughty photos in there (shhh, don’t say anything), which caused more laughter. Super-Craig was a gentleman, made sure the old phone was wiped clean, and gave me a new phone, straight out of the box.

So, the moral (haha) of the story is, if you have an iPhone5 and it’s misbehaving, look at the following sites:

    https://www.apple.com/support/iphone5-battery/

    https://www.apple.com/support/iphone5-sleepwakebutton/

Don’t tell Super-Craig it was me. He’ll know.

    Hi TheUglyDuckling,
I had the EXACT same issue with my iPhone 5 and put it down to too much Instagramming/Facebooking, so when I took it to the Genius Bar I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there were a whole heap of phones in that model that had faulty batteries and they replaced it for free – even though the phone is about 3 years old!

I have an iPhone 5s and the battery was horrible! It would be fully charged and without even using it, it would go down to 50% and then die within 30 minutes after that. I finally made an appointment for the genius bar for them to check it out. Turns out there was something wrong with my battery. I believe it was faulty and they had to change it for a new one.

If you have any other phones with short battery lives, get a power bank (portable battery) to charge on the go. My power bank is 21000 mah which means i can charge my phone for up to 5 times before i need to recharge the power bank.
