What’s your favourite thing about getting older?

Hi beauties!

I hope you’re all doing well and looking out for yourselves wherever you are in Australia <3

I just wanted to jump in the forums as I’ve been thinking a lot about how we always seem to talk about the downside of getting older and I really want to talk about the ups!

So please tell me, what’s your favourite thing about getting older?

Aside from immensely enjoying wine and coffee, I think some of mine would be caring less what others think about me (and comparing myself less), and finally getting to see what all the fuss is about retinol is (I get it now!).

Anyway would love to hear your thoughts and what you’ve loved.

Sam xx

Hardest thing is feeling so much younger than my age and when I dare to look in the mirror I can’t believe I am the age I am .

I just like waking up every morning , and making the most of each day. Who knows what’s “around the corner” for all of us ? He he…I also love it when somebody asks how old I am , then see the surprise on their face when I answer truthfully. I am 74, and feel Blessed to have reached this age. Enjoy your life everyone !

I’m still young (turned 30 in June!) but I’ve realised that the beauty of getting older is that you care less about what people think AND you have enough life experience to give proper life/relationship/emotional advice to those who want it.

Being kind to myself as I am ageing which has the benefit of giving me more confidence. Also being older means I have more life experience which makes you more tolerant of other people.
Another benefit of ageing is being a Nana and spoiling them rotten and being able to hand them back, wonderful life bonus!

I’m turning 50 soon, wondering what to do for my birthday this year, is it a milestone? I can’t really decide but I suppose it is the beginning of a new decade for me.

I am not sure what I will do to celebrate it, I don’t want to go skydiving or anything wacky and I’m not really the party type, I sugggested to the kids that they get me gift voucher for a round of Botox LOL No one seems keen on that idea in my family. It’s something I still have a while to mull on.

    Hi Beauties,

Just now jumping in to throw in my multi decades of life worth. The downsides are so many, failing eyesight and hearing and fitness. Worse when you have had injuries (mine over 30 years ago now). Skin gets wrinkled, hair goes grey, body changes shape and you seem to have very little control no matter what you do (or can’t do).
Aches and pains seem to increase without reason and surface as we try to get out of bed.

The up sides are: We are so much wiser than the younger generation due to our long life experiences and have learned the most practical ways to deal with any problems thrown our way. We can communicate without internet or mobile phones, we can cook from scratch with the most meagre of ingredients. We know how to deal with minor injuries and illnesses without resorting to chemical drugs – except for Covid 19 (:

We can pull out our fashion styles that we grew up with and have now done a resurface, or just wear what we like and feel most comfortable in without caring what others think. We don’t have to wear make up looking glamourous like a professional model. Most of us find what products work well for us to help rejuvenate our inner beauty so there is less consumerism (too bad economy – we need our hard earned $$ for our better life).

The best thing though for me is the generous time we have to share with our grandchildren who really do love their grandparents and this brings the best joy to getting older.

Well I have just discovered this topic I missed it some how. However if ever anyone is in the older age bracket it must be me, I am in my 70’s and I really don’t care what people think of me. I wear some makeup ,and I do not dye my white hair ,I used to be blonde naturally but I am now fully white haired. I love clothes, just ask my husband!!!!) and I have just had a bone scan to check how they are in case I have a fall, and my Doctor rang and told me I have the most amazing bones, they are so strong its like a women in her 20’s..he said it was probably because I used to be a professional dancer. I am a mother and a grandmother. But honestly life it what you make it and to hell with what others think. Just be yourself at what ever age.As long as your not doing anyone harm. I will help help anyone if thy need me and I try not to gossip. So my advice to everyone whatever your age just be yourself.

Hello! I think it’s a really nice topic. The best thing is experience, new opportunities. As well as wine and coffee. That’s the best part. I like the freedom, the traveling, the fact that I can eat chips at night and no one will scold me. I’m just a kid, after all.

I’m 62 and haven’t coloured my hair for the last 3 years. I’m very comfortable with my grey hair and my hair is in great condition.

Gaining more wisdom in many areas of life. Becoming more of an expert on myself – the things that make me happy, sad, stressed, depressed, and the things that inspire me. Learning that self compassion and being OK with yourself as you are at the moment (physically, emotionally and goal-wise) is one of the best gifts you can give yourself.
