What skincare brands are worth buying in Hawaii?

Hi guys,

I’m heading to Hawaii in less than 2 months and am looking at what skin care brands are worth buying over there. With the current exchange rate it seems to me that most of the brands I’ve had a look at are basically the same rate once converted (and also keeping in mind the US adds tax at checkout)

Also are there any good brands that we in Aus don’t have that are worth the purchase?

Thanks to any Beauties who can help me 🙂

I hear M.A.C is way better priced over there. But I don’t buy cosmetics when I go to Hawaii I’m too busy clothes shopping LOL

I have bought Clinique in the US before and it was quite a bit cheaper than in Australia. Have just come back from overseas on Saturday and travelled via the States to get home, was tempted to look at the duty free at LAX airport but had already been on two flights just to get to LA before another 13 hour flight to get home and couldn’t be bothered looking at the duty free.

Also – look out for GWP while you are in the states. The qualifying spent for GWP (e.g. Clinique, EL etc) is much lower. Something like $25 or so for Clinique and maybe $40 for EL?

The exchange rate sucks at the moment. But I still buy Sephora Favourites from the states and get them shipped to my friend and he ships them to me when there’re a few orders. They are great value for money and not available in Aus

I went back in 2017 – with the exchange rate unfortunately it’s not the best place to get hyped for skincare/make-up shopping.

My only one tip is that if you’re interested in MAC single eyeshadows – stock up!! They are way cheaper over there, I regret not buying more.

Maybe I should have titled this post “what skin care brands to buy in the US”? I’m also not liking the exchange rate at the moment:(

I’ve got no suggestions, Janefre, I’ve never been there, but HAVE FUN!

Aww lucky you Janefre – I was there in 2016 and 2017. I didn’t get time to do any cosmetic shopping there, I was busy doing other great things.

Seashells would be able to help you I am sure. She has been there and shopped till she dropped. 🙂

Ooh, please do tell these “”other”” things you were busy doing, Jatz 😉 On second thought, what happens on vacation, stays on vacation, right? hahahaha

ha ha Indie – one was tryng to pluck up the courage to get in a helicopter, ;-/

Going on a helicopter is not on my wishlist of things to do. Good on you for doing it!

Oh gosh did you see where a helicopter came down in Hawaii – but that was one of those R44 helicopters which are not great at all. So many accidents in those ones. We went with Blue Hawaiian and they were like tanks 🙂 So sad to know a lovely Australian lady died in the recent Hawaiian accident though.

Never was on my wishlist either Indie but hubby said I would love it. I watched one taking off while we were on the ground and I thought my neck/head is not going to like that at all.

Thankfully we had a great pilot who took off slowly by just going up, not sideways. I must admit once we were up, I didn`t think about it but I didn`t like being at the front right next to the pilot. She said if I drop anything, not to reach down to retrieve it. There was nothing to drop anyways, as you were only allowed your camera or phones.

Let`s just say I was so happy when we returned and was safely on the ground. 🙂
