Something’s definitely fishy….

Allo!

Hope everyone had a good Chrissie!

I am sure you have all noticed on the side ‘Latest Reviews’ panel two ‘Tribe Skincare’ reviews.

I clicked on the Soothe Me! Anti-redness Serum review because it of course would be something that I would be interested in. Immediately the whole thing was hugely suss.

https://www.beautyheaven.com.au/skin-care/rosacea-redness/product/soothe-me-anti-redness-serum#1816661

11 of the 12 reviews were by people who JOINED on 17/12/2019 and WROTE the review of the product on the SAME day. (The cluster of reviews appear in about 7 or 8 hours.)
One review was from someone who joined 18/12/2019 and wrote the review the following day. And this is just one of their products.

Super suss huh?

Now go and have a look at the WHOLE Tribe Skincare page!
https://www.beautyheaven.com.au/skin-care/brand/tribe-skincare

You’ll notice the SAME names appearing under each product giving stellar reviews. They all seem to have appeared around the same time and written “reviews” pretty darn quickly!

This is super not cool. I hope nobody has bought their products based on what is absolute bollox! I mean how shameless do you have to be to flood BH with all these VERY obviously fake reviews. (There are legit reviews, don’t get me wrong)

I emailed Eleni about it, I received an auto response saying the BH Team is off until Monday the 6th of January.

Have a look, I am definitely not insane, I promise 🙂

I emailed BH about Grand Nature reviews back in November 2018

Copy and paste of my email…

_There’s something super fishy going on with 2 grand nature reviews. I only noticed this because I placed the eye cream in my rewards room wishlist and am now going through the process of elimination so I thought I’d read some reviews.
REPAIR & ANTI-WRINKLE REJUVENATING TREATMENT EMULSION WITH GRAPE SEED & Q10 PLUS REVIEWS

    And

ADVANCED ANTI-AGEING LIFTING EYE CREAM REVIEWS

Both have got exactly the same seven reviewers. Six of the seven reviewers joined on the same day. All six reviews were submitted at about the same time. All are bronze members.
Coincidence? I highly doubt it. This was before your time. I guess comments about dishonest reviews and trusting reviews from forum members kinda makes sense.

    Thanks_

I got a reply saying the member profiles will be disabled, reviews unpublished and brand contacted.

I probably didn’t bother to check after I emailed whether anything was done about it but thankfully it’s done now.

I’ve been suspicious about the Grand Nature brand for a long time based on their reviews.

  • 3 yrs, 8 mths ago

I thought it was pretty unusual too! The fact they all have become members on the same day with almost exact number of reviews done is fishy! I really think it is one person behind it with multiple accounts.

  • 3 yrs, 8 mths ago

Indeed jupiter! what this company has now done is the opposite of what it intended – I do not want to try this brand. I don’t trust these reviews and therefore I don’t trust the product. These reviews are mostly not helpful and seem ‘scripted’ .

    • 3 yrs, 8 mths ago

I correct myself: They are not `new` reviewers, but all became members on 18/9/2018, each with just 2-3 reviews. My bet is that they are all the same team, if not the same person.

      • 3 yrs, 8 mths ago

Two of the reviews are not even `reviews`, they have nothing in them to say the reviewer actually used them. I looked at some of their other products and many of the reviews are from members who joined 19-20/9/2018 with just 1 or 2 reviews. For 1 product there are 39 reviews but only 2 reviewers have reviewed more than 3 products.

  • 3 yrs, 8 mths ago

Ah, I should have commented in this thread.

I noticed the glowing reviews from new reviewers for this Grand Nature product. There are also a lot of new reviewers for their other products.

    • 3 yrs, 8 mths ago

I think all the reviews were taken down now for this product as I can`t see any…

      • 3 yrs, 8 mths ago

Oh yes all five reviews have been removed for the anti-aging serum. Excellent! Good work, BH!

      • 3 yrs, 8 mths ago

Now the same thing needs to happen for the majority of review for the Advanced Anti-Ageing Lifting Eye Cream from this same brand…

Kassalee 23 Dec 2019 posted this image that she found on the product website.
Is the logo even a legitimate BH logo, or did they make one up to look like it is legit?

But this is what is wrong with what they are doing. They are stacking the decks by posting a flurry of reviews not from real customers and then using BH’s brand to claim how wonderful their products are. If you products are wonderful, then the reviews will come by themselves! This way you are just making people give you some side-eye and you’ll be distrusted. Way to shoot yourself in the foot.

Thank you Petal for pointing me back to that thread and thank you Kassalee for digging further!

    Hey beauties,

Thanks for letting us know, we are going to look into it 🙂

      Thanks Jessica 🙂

Nobody wants cheaters sullying the excellent reputation of BH.

Everything on that product list just looks dodgy af. Too perfect and statistically nearly zero chance of it happening organically. Definitely seems co-ordinated.

I think there should be a bit of tightening up of reviews generally, lots are pretty useless and the reviewer obviously hasn`t even tried it. I`m just sending an email about one (not the Tribe) to Eleni so we will see what happens. I guess it is a lot of work for the BH team to make sure every review is accurate and well written (within reason – it`s not a writing comp!)

      • 4 yrs, 2 mths ago

        Hear Hear!

You`re right, it isn`t a writing comp, but it is good to get some info about the product. And sometimes it means writing a bit more than the minimum 50 words.
(I am very guilty of writing long reviews but that is just my style of writing in general)

I always come to BH to look up a product before I buy it. I am genuinely interested in things like what does it smell like, does the cap fly off, does it dry out, how many layers did you need, how long did it last etc… You know, the stuff you really want to know about a product. not just what the brand is trying to tell you.

Perhaps BH should add another button to the bottom of a posted review:
        Yes
        No

Maybe if others actually clicked whether a review was actually helpful (leaving feedback really) it would go a long way to cleaning the reviews up a bit 🙂
And then if something is just a super nothing-burger, we can all say that the review was unhelpful. If it gets down to a certain point, maybe pull the review because it is obviously unhelpful and was just a simple 5 point grab exercise 🙂

Ok I am not sure if anyone noticed but nearly all the reviews for this product have word counts less than 50 and it is required to have 50 words the minimum for reviews.
The reviews I checked have 49 words,

    • 4 yrs, 3 mths ago

Shali_Nialler, BH introduced a guideline a while ago when reviews had to be at least fifty words. If someone tried to submit a review shorter than the required minimum, the review would not go through. At some stage, this guideline or rule changed. I`ve done a cut and paste of BH`s current guidelines for reviews in their section “”Rating and reviewing products on beautyheaven””:

“”How long should my review be?
Your review should be a minimum of one paragraph. We recognise that certain products can be summed up in a few sentences, but others need much more explanation. As a general rule, if you have covered the points mentioned above, your review will be accepted.””

  • 4 yrs, 3 mths ago

The only thing that could potentially happen (that hopefully, BH) will shed some light on is were these reviews moved from a different platform to BH when they signed up as a brand on the website?

For instance, reviews from their website directly or trust pilot?

    • 4 yrs, 3 mths ago

I don`t know if I trust all of the reviews on the company`s website now. They have a banner on their main page which says “”over 1,000 5-star reviews””. On the flip side, I`ve seen a few before and after photos on their website and the positive results from their products seem obvious.

  • 4 yrs, 3 mths ago

I would never have noticed that… Thank s for sharing!!! It does seem suss, though…
