I remember many months ago we got asked in the forums about a skincare article (remember ethelinde and slugging? lol) and the article never appeared:( I hope this isn’t the case with this article because I’ve been waiting too.

Can you tell which family/friends have had botox? I can its’ quite obvious to me. I am 38 and avoid the sun as much as possible. I’ve seen Facebook photos of people older than me with no wrinkles. It’s not a filter. I woudn’t mind having no wrinkles.

What would the most essential products for a quick, comfortable and not too expensive skin care routine be ?

    • 5 yrs, 1 mth ago

      Low pH cleanser.
Basic antioxidant moisturiser or serum .
      And SPF.

      At night
      Cleanser.
      Repair. Vitamin a serum.
      Moisturiser.

I would also love to know about skincare for children. My daughters aged 8 & 10 are getting little blackheads on their nose and some little whiteheads on the face too- what is the best thing to do for their young skin as I didn’t expect this at such a young age and their diet is quite healthy too so not sure why so young and what to do as I don’t want to damage their skin by using the wrong products.

    Hi Lauren,
Can he help to explain the difference between hydrating vs moisturising skin care products? I get so confused!
    Thanks heaps.

What can you use to repair your skin’s moisture barrier? I’ve tried hyaluronic acid but it dried my skin out more because I live in a very dry climate, so it couldn’t draw out moisture from the air.

Products that contain ceremides, cholesterol and fatty acids, avoid alcohol denate in products, you just need to prevent further water loss so a humectant moisturiser too. Even Vaseline is good because it seals off your skin to further water loss and damage to the skin. If your skin barrier is that damaged I`m be using those products for sure. Avoid actives.

Peptides, another gimmick in skincare, or has it a clinical research on humans to prove it does something (hopefully good) to the skin?

    • 5 yrs, 1 mth ago

Oh yes peptides. Would love to know too!! Presummably peptides are highly specific because of receptor specificity , so if peptides work which ones? And how about level of penetration? Do they ever get to the receptor site if applied topically?

Hey yoh from what I`ve read peptides in skincare do do something. However they are mainly humectants drawing moisture to the skin which is why the skin looks plumper after use. I will wait and see what this person has to say about it.

I would like to ask about blind pimples. It takes ages to disappear scars on the face. Also, whiteheads around my nose area. It comes overnight. Some whiteheads in my chin area leave black scars. One after another come continuously.
