Shop your stash

I’ve heard this term around on the internet for a while and it got me thinking that I need to do just this. As I’m halfway through opening an advent calendar and after receiving the latest BH rewards room I’m going to make a concerted effort to get through what I have before buying anything else.

Call me crazy but I’ve compiled an “inventory” of sorts on my phone with all my products all categorised (yes it took me a lot of time!) but I think it just puts into perspective that I don’t need to buy another cleanser or serum until I run out. In the past I’ve had so much stuff that when I get around to using something it has been way past its used by date. It certainly will help with decluttering and budget.

Anyone else think this is a good idea and wants to join me in this?

Hard to believe this was 8 months ago. I am doing well, although I have been tempted quite a number of times. All I have added to my stash is some Sukin products at 50% off and the Nip Fab glycolic pads, which I have never used before.

I’ve been doing quite well to not add to my stash lately, it’s nice getting through products instead of accumulating them.

I would love to see the current state of SJ’s spreadsheet 🙂

8 months since I first posted about shopping your stash. How’s everyone going with this?

I’d been pretty good using up samples and products before purchasing anything new – but an O/S holiday had me splurge on quite a few things 😉
Having said that I now have made a new inventory and I refer to that before I go and buy anything.

I really am trying hard to down tune Janefre I have purchased a few things here and there such as at beautorium and the Priceline Skincare bag that they had earlier in the year but I ignored the makeup one and im not taking part in the liptember bag like I have in past years. So far this year I have used up a grand total of 66 products. Think I might have to lift my game to reach my target of 100 by the end of the year.

Yes!! I have actually been sticking to shopping my stash and have managed to get through a couple of shampoo & conditioners, old perfumes, facial scrubs.. I have only bought something when I absaloutely really had to (moisturiser, eye cream & facial oil) and waited until it was on special first.
It definitely has been a good way to start the year, it has definitely helped me save money and simplify things! Definitely was a awesome idea janefre, thank you for sharing it with us =)

Just reviving this thread to see how everyone’s going “shopping their stash”.
So far I’ve been plowing through my samples and ticking them off one by one (very satisfying). I’ve taken note of the expiry dates on the products and if they are sealed or not and using these first.
All I’ve bought are things I’ve truly run out of so I’m happy with my progress.

Hi Janefre, I`m pretty happy with how I`m going with my stash. I haven`t purchased anything major in skin care, only a couple of items on sale and for makeup, I`ve only bought a couple items at half off.

I`ve actually used out a bottle of serum so far and for the first time ever I`ve hit pan on one of my powders.

So thanks for starting this thread, you`ve set some of us to a productive start for the new year.

Okay…one Lush hair mask finished off (the solid ones on the stick)…I’ve had it for at least a year! I plan on giving my fiance’s sister some sealed makeup products I have gotten in beauty boxes and will never get around to using with my ginormous stash (and the fact that now that I’m working full time I never have time to play around with makeup looks in the morning!). Thanks for inspiring me Meedee

I would love to have an actual list of what I have…not sure I have the time to make one mind you.

Im like HelenP5 and cant resist the Priceline goodybags. I am trying very hard not to buy things other then my Olay Miracle Essence which im now stocked with thanks to the deal Woolies had a few weeks back.

My eldest daughter gave me her Christmas list the other day and wonderfully a couple of the things she wants I had in my stash so they will be wrapped and gifted to her. Also when she arrives her she always goes home with enough product to last her until her next visit. I have 4 bottles of moisturiser set aside for her as she is always asking for day moisturisers with SPF included.

My middle daughter was raving on about a certain brand and range of products for skincare and I have the entire set so they will be being gifted to her for Christmas.

I am going to try hard for the rest of the year to not shop but I know the Priceline goodybags will draw me in and beautoriums also. But other then that I shall remain strong….I hope. I always keep a tally for products I use and so far this year im sitting on a grand total of 119 products. Will be interesting to see how I go in 2019.

I need to do this!!! I have boxes, bags & cabinets full of products. I am a sucker for a bargain, especially the free goodies bags they offer on occasion at Priceline & Chemist Warehouse to name a few. I buy so much stuff that I really don’t need just to get my hands on a bag full of free products that just sit in the cupboard waiting for me to get around to using them. Luckily I have two teenage girls that are more than happy to help me & quite often they gift some of the goodies to their friends as well…but I really need to make a commitment not to buy anything I don’t need for at least a year to even have a chance of making a noticeable dint in my stash.

My bathroom cupboards and drawers are chock a block full of products, have no idea what’s in there really…

Skincare junkie, I’m loving seeing your spreadsheet! Has anyone else done one?

My partner and I are moving around May next year, so I really want to use up a large part of my stash before then. My collection of clothes and shoes is already OTT and I don’t want to be lugging kilos of beauty products from one house to another!
