Share The Dignity: charity for women’s sanitary products

There is a charity that some of you may want to help out called Share The Dignity. I saw a story on this charity on Channel Ten’s show The Project. The charity’s goal is to provide women that are homeless and at risk with sanitary products. When women enter domestic violence refuges and homeless shelters, they often arrive with nothing but the clothes they’re wearing. Many people donate items to these women, but it is often overlooked that they need sanitary products. Women often use toilet paper, paper towels, rags etc in lieu of sanitary products. If you would love to donate sanitary products to this charity, I have provided a link to their website below. The second link is a relevant article. The third link is an environmentally aware company that you can buy sanitary products from.

The website isn’t working for me. Hopefully I can make a donation instead of buying products because I live in the middle of nowhere!

I snapped this pic in my local Woolliies only yesterday morning Seashells as I was heading out.

Hoping it’s a permanent thing and I’ll be sure to pick up something to donate next time.

Such a good idea, I’ve noticed Woolies have something similar at the moment where you can donate sanitary products they have collection boxes outside their stores so you can buy something when doing your shop and pop it in the collection box on the way out.

Someone that I know has become so involved with Share The Dignity that she has become a volunteer coordinator for them.

I have been slowly buying beauty products, sanitary items etc for their yearly “It’s In The Bag” campaign in November. Handbags filled with sanitary items, beauty products and little luxuries are donated to homeless women, women in crisis and women experiencing poverty. Here is a link to the charity:

Thanks for this Petal!! I have just started using a Menstrual Cup and want to donate several packets of tampons i have to a women’s charity.

I vaguely remembered reading something, somewhere and then it came to me that it was on Beautyheaven!! A quick search led me to this thread 🙂

Yes!! Thank you so much for sharing, this is exactly what I was looking for.

I was looking for a way to dispose of tampons I had around the house as a result of winning them in prize packs where I’d keep the pads then proceed to use tampons for bleeding noses (only mini ones worked with my nostrils btw, regular did not fit so I still have a heap of unopened boxes ready for collection <3).

We rarely hear of females who are homeless or in refuges so I had completely forgotten about how difficult dealing with their TOM truly is. It’s bad enough with proper sanitary products.

This is such a wonderful idea. All women have the right to have access to sanitary products.
