Real shelfies

For skincare addicts, constant exposure to staged shelfies which are neat, tidy and colour coordinated can be as toxic as seeing heavily photoshopped bodies in every magazine.

I’ll start by posting an “as-is”, no re-arranging picture of my messy bedside cupboard. I actually use from my toiletries bag, so every day I can just bring that bag to the gym and have the same skincare routine. Shampoo and shower gel in the bag are a bit random, depending on what travel size I can get.

For those doing a cull & donating their unwanted clothes/shoes: good on you, BUT they want in season clothing! The Op shops discount them, because they want to make room for stuff that will be in season. It’s better to sort stuff into winter, summer & mid-season stuff. Donate winter & mid-seasonal stuff now. Hold off on the summer stuff for a while though.

Not a shelfie but hubby just put some awsome lights in the walk in robe and said we need an Ikea trip to deck out our wardrobe (currently just have one shelf and hanging rack which spans the length and wastes so much valuable clothes space). I think I may have to lead him over to my dream makeup dresser that I have been wanting forever, maybe even a mirror with lights 😉

Stay tuned, maybe able to get my dream makeup skin care space then I will def post a shelfie! Off to pintrest for some inspo!

Gilliey, I can highly recommend culling as you feel soooooo good afterwards. One of the aspects that I enjoy the most is finding a better way of organising my products and this is more achievable if you have fewer products. On the other hand, you have more space to buy some new items!

I love culling and reorganising. Have just done a major reorganisation of my wardrobe and beauty products (skincare and makeup) and it feels so good. Eyeshadows were the most difficult to cull as I had far too many, both singles and palettes. So I used the method of tossing out items that were past their use by date and realised I had doubles of similar shades. I probably could cull more but may do so after wearing them. Given there are new formulations that come out regularly it is fun to try them, so a good excuse to get rid of the old.

Skincare Junkie Is that a Tigger I see in your first photo? lol
what is his job? Inspect things/ quality control or keep an eye on your products when you aren’t there? So cute and random but looks like it just belongs there 😀

I took this picture a while ago, never got around to post.

Top: my makup dressing table. It looks a bit “staged” but it always looks like this (thanks to my amazing cleaner who arranges my bottles) and I actually very seldom use anything from here unless I am going out. On a daily basis I use my tinted moisturiser and mascara from my gym toiletries bag .

Bottom: my wardrobe and the random beauty item that cant fit into my bedside drawers.

And this is only items of makeup that are left (almost all are gifts, do not remember buying makeup for ages, except organic shadows and one of Barry Ms, other one is an amazing gift from DG… even had to throw away my Dr. Hauschka shadows in blue and silver…had it for too long)
