Online Fad Fails
After seeing so many videos on-line on Facebook and Youtube, I wanted to try the new black peeling mask that people have shown that is pretty much glues itself to your face.
I’m usually one for reviewing and checking prior to buying but I decided to be a free spirit this time. Unfortunately, I was greeted with a product that removed no blackheads and it had the effectiveness of placing duct tape on my skin (I only used this on my nose area), I don’t even know if what I received is a fake or even real!
Any other beauties been conned into buying something on-line or on TV? Beauty or non-beauty related?
Picture of the product below in case you haven’t seen it before (P.S I don’t recommend buying it!)

I bought one of those black charcoal masks with the hopes it’d pull out my blackheads. As it turned out, it was too good to be true. After some long painful peeling, it ended up pulling out hairs more than blackheads/sebaceous filaments.
The only luck I’ve had is using a clay mask, then oil cleansing then using this mask. I could see some white dots from where I applied it to my nose but it wasn’t much. And it did nothing for my chin.

I have seen so many videos on twitter about this masks, I wondered if they worked or not. I have seen one viral one going around now, a hair removal cream.
I have never really brought stuff off tv or anything but somebody gave me a thin lizzy powder once. Oh god, I hated it. So over-hyped. I know they say it has like 55 different uses (slight over-exaggeration but to me it was just a standard powder and it looked so cakey on my skin). I have used better powders from maybelline and essence (and they are much cheaper). I know they said you could use it as an eyeshadow so I did once, it wouldn’t blend in at all. The only thing I liked was the clear lip gloss I got with it. I don’t think it was the wonder product it was hyped to be.

I`ve seen some people post and review about it essentially being a extreme exfoliator and that it rips hair out of your face so the brand must work but maybe not in the way people think/ there might be a lot of duds taking advantage of the viral sensation.
It would be interesting to see all the uses stated to see how different they were.

Lol I had a very similar experience with a very similar product by a brand called Pilaten. It seemed so good; a peel off charcoal mud mask so I decided to try it out.
It was nothing like it was advertised! It didn’t dry properly, in some parts it did dry but a lot of it didn’t; it stayed in this odd, tacky texture that was horrendous to remove-couldn’t peel it off. Struggled to remove it even with hot water and a facial cloth, I had to add facial cleanser and scourer at my skin to try to remove it off my face, which left my skin very red, very sore and adgitated.
The parts that did actually dry properly were extremely painful to remove and did not leave my skin smooth or blackhead free at all! It left my skin red, tingly and sore 🙁
I was suckered into the promise of a peel off charcoal mud mask that would remove blackheads with ease; I got something completely different.
Needless to say it went straight in the bin and I do not blind-buy skin products anymore lol always always always research or test first 🙂 -

I love the black peel off masks! I have the Elizavecca Hell Pore and it works well for me. Maybe you got a dud? I have not much of an issue with pores but it does work for that for me. I mostly use it to remove the fine blonde peach fuzz I get on my lower face and jaw areas. Wax strips don’t tend to work in that area but the black mask does.

I bought the “”Shills”” mask that is shown in a lot of the viral videos, I feel like the other masks offered by reputable brands would work much better than this one (Unless I bought a fake), I`ve seen people mention it takes out baby hairs from the face, my skin is too sensitive to apply completely over the face though.

Elizavecca is a very reputable Korean brand you wouldn`t have an issue with them not working, they are pretty good. It makes me scream noooo! when I see people putting them on their whole face, pretty sure they are meant for spot patches only, I also couldn`t use on my whole face, I just do small sections.

BLOODY WAIST TRAINERS!! I ‘waisted’ (ahem excuse the pun) $60 on one two years ago when I was going to the gym and shedding off a lot of weight. Wanted an extra boost/help on the tummy area (what it was hyped up for). It was such a gimmick and did nothing and was uncomfortable to wear. I wore a size 10 in clothing, it was recommended to order one size up so I got a size 12 and it was so short it didn’t fit properly (and I’m not even tall).
