MISLEADING SCENTS

How many times have we taken a sniff of a perfume and thought “Hmm! That’s lovely! I think I should buy it”!

We don’t bother to first test it out on ourselves (disregarding the pushy sales person giving us dirty looks), wear it and see how well it performs during the day and how much we like it?

Instead, we it home, douse ourselves with it (I know I douse myself – sorry, but if my perfumes has no smell; it’s a waste of money) and are disappointed? I must say I’m “Guilty as charged”!

Surely, if stores want to sell their perfumes, they should either give us a little sample for free or let us purchase one?

What do you think Beauties?

Well, that’s what I’ll be doing in future!

I agree. Definitely spray it on yourself to get actrue appreciation of hiw it really smells on you. The cardboard they use actually has a smell of its own distorting the smell of the perfume. Djs and myer do have samples of a lot of perfumes so if you really like a perfume you could be brave and ask for a sample to really give a perfume a test run. I’ve bought many a perfume after receiving a sample.

I’ve done this too!!! It makes it hard if you buy them for presents too….

Here they’re truly mean with any of their samples!

Definitely need to try it on yourself before you buy. Spray and leave it for a few hours see how it adapts to your skin. And they should definitely give samples in the states the do!

I always go into big stores that don’t have pushy sales assistants (DJ,MYER, Sephora) and spray whatever I want to try. I’ve done this with the Jo Malone perfume monthly for a year before I decided to commit to buying it (It’s expensive AF but ended up totally worth it). I used to buy so many perfumes based on the first reaction that I ended up with a big collection on of average scents.

Also I love spraying random new fragrances (mostly in Sephora) that I’ll probably never buy but get to wear for the day.

I’ve never had Sales Assistants complain, as long as it’s a tester there’s nothing wrong with it

I`ll do it! Until now, I`ve only being trying some occasionally; but “”perfume counters; here I come””!

I always shop in DJ or Myer. No one stops me from spraying the tester on myself then walk away

      HAHAHAHAHAHA!!

This made my day! I used to do that in high school and then walk out of DJ. I felt bad but the good part was that I smelt so nice whilst I was on public transport 🙂

Guess it takes courage to do this. LOL

No, that`s what most people do Electra! That`s why they have the perfumes out and accessible, so that you can try them on. Staff aren`t going to tell you off for trying their perfume – I`ve never had anyone say anything.

I do it, but not very often. From now o, I`m going to get braver.

I prefer to go somewhere like a Department store or Chemist where I can help myself. Spray some on then leave the store.
If after my shopping it still smells good, I then go back. You might want to photograph the bottles of what you sprayed and note it

I have always asked for on my skin due to an expensive experience with the Dior Poison range, loved them on the card in duty free bought 4 different ones and they all smelt terrible on me when I used on my skin and gave me nausea and headaches! Gave them all to my daughter, smelled great on her 🙁 I think you need to “wear” a perfume all day before you decide to buy.

I remember many many years ago my mum went out and purchased Maroussia as she smelt it on her friend and fell in love with it. On her skin it smelt so awful, she ended up giving her friend the bottle lol

I`ve done that before. Unfortunately perfumes don`t smell the same on everyone.
