Switching from Estelle to Yasmine

Hi everyone!
I’ve been on Estelle since I was a teenager and got off it last year for about 3 months (just thought I might see what I’m like off the pill) In that 3 months I broke out a little on my chin and at the time I thought it was too much and decided to start taking Estelle again (it’s to control my acne more than anything) anyway when I went back on it I broke out all over my face crazy crazy. Over time most of it went away (forehead spots) but I still have quite a bit of acne on my jaw line cheeks and chin. It’s been 6 months now on Estelle. It worked so great for me for 10 years from teenager to my 3 month break last year, so I’m so devo it’s not working now like it was. Basically I’ve exhausted all my options (dermatologist, topical, oral so don’t bother mentioning other things I can do) my only two options are 1. Switch to Yasmine pill and see if that’s better for my skin or
2. Go off the pill again and see if i clears up at least might have less breakout than I do now.
My questions are
1. Did anyone who went on Estelle for skin take longer than 6 months for it to work for you? Do I need to wait longer?
2. Has anyone switched from Estelle to yasmine or vice versa? I’m worried about switching because I don’t want another massive purge in acne with the hormone changes.
Thanks ladies

I’ve been taking Estelle for around 7 years and decided to stop taking it around 4 months ago. I too had lots of breakouts the first 2 months but have found it has settled down now. The funny thing was that I never suffered from pimples or breakouts ever and only went on Estelle because I had a skin reaction to something and my doctor recommended I take Estelle so I just kept taking it.

This is from 2 years ago.

Just to update from there, I had to take Yaz back to back to create longer gaps between bleeds (because of dysmenorrhea), until last July, when I started bleeding and didn’t stop until a month later when I stopped taking Yaz. I haven’t touched it since. My skin is a lot worse now, but my periods are okay.

Don’t do it! Give Estelle a chance. I went on Yaz for a year and a bit after 12 years on Estelle, and it was hell on both my skin and health.

I’ve gone off the pill entirely after 13 years on them, and my skin sucks,, but we will see how things go in a few months and see if I can go back in Estelle.

Thanks for this. Although Yasmine is different to Yaz so the Dr said. I am still cautious of switching. Estelle worked so good for me before, its just taking a long time to kick in this time.

I have used Estelle for a long time when I first used it it did help with my skin and I haven’t had any issues with it since even when I’ve switched to other pills. I found it helped with my skin within 6 months.

Probably need to consider coming off the pill at some stage as I’m in my late 40’s now. More worried about having horrendous period pain and vomiting and cramps if I come off it which I had before I started taking it.

Hope you find something which works for you.
