Sheet Masks?

Do you use Sheet Masks?

I used to be against them because I thought they were a gimmick. I started out using the Garnier ones, which I actually really like.

I’ve recently started using the Mizon ones sold at Mecca, and am honestly starting to fall in love!

Has anyone else tried them? Or any other brands you’d recommend?

20 mins for a sheet mask should be tops and it really depends on the quantity of essence in the sheet mask and the sheet mask material. Any longer and I think the moisture is well on its way to evaporation.

I use Dermal Facial Sheet Mask. It’s also pretty good. While these masks are certainly effective, they tend to dry up relatively more quickly than other masks. You might get a good 15 to 20 minutes before the moisture starts to disappear from parts of the mask. Also, these masks are unlikely to resolve skin issues worse than dryness, dullness, or tiredness.

I’ve have used three of the new John Plunkett’s Hi-Potency Aloe Vera Facial Mask – and they are really good.
The sheet mask fits really well onto my face as well as containing just enough serum. It doesn’t drip or run down the face. I can sit upright without the mask moving or running down. There is still just enough serum for my neck as well. Its made from 100% bamboo fibre so feels soft and comfortable to wear.
Would recommend it for dry, dehydrated and sunburnt wind damaged skin.
Ingredients Certified Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice and other nutrients including Jojoba and Allantoin- no alcohol unlike alot of the sheet masks around including burts bees and garnier.

Used to love the skin vitals range in my earlier years, these days I’m more into mud masks (sukin, in a pot) these days purely because I have them though.

When I use sheet masks, I love to throw in one of those circle things from Muji, to absorb the rest of the serum and create a second mask. 😉

Well I got some mbd now to try. I will look forward to using them due to the rave reviews here. Thanks.

What’s so great about the my diary masks? I’m looking into getting some…

I stick to them and the Dr Morita masks only. MBD has a superior fit, no bunching or creasing and they are super light and invisible on the skin. They contain a huge amount of essence and I like to put it on my face then dunk it back in and lay it on the décolletage.

For me the variety in the MBD is great and my skin looks and feels great after using them. Just my opinion, everyone likes something different in fit and style of masks, if you want light and invisible then MBD is awesome.

Thank you Ethelindeand duality for sharing your thoughts. I just bought the cactus, together with hyaluronic. I didnconsider black pearl but I think I need hydration more than brightening at the monent.

I love the Taiwanese masks most as they seem to have the lightest and thinnest mask material (I had big thick bunchy masks) and sooo much essence. I look for brightening and moisturising type masks.

    Dr Morita (top 3)
    – Pearl Barley Licorice Whitening & Brightening Essence Gel Mask
    – Tranexamic Acid Brightening
    – Black Pearl

My Beauty Diary (top 3, hard they are all good)
    – Black Pearl
    – Cactus
    – Arbutin

In general, I’d use Cosdna to check each variety of mask though for any brand, some have better ingredients than others even in the same range. Some have alcohol, preservatives and fragrances and others in same range don’t.

This thread prompted me to look at sheet masks again. 2 years ago I bought a random batch of korean ones like innisfeee and didn’t like them particularly. I am going to give it a go again. But going to try the Taiwanese ones.

Which ones from My Beauty Diary / Dr Morita would you recommend? I am looking for hydration/nourishment as I already have too many brightening products lines up.

Innisfree has actually reformulated their sheet mask ranges so it might be worth checking out again. Innisfree is however what we would consider a drugstore brand in terms of the sheet mask market.

I have honestly never encountered an MBD sheet mask I did not like. My picks would be Arbutin, Black Pearl, Imperial Bird`s Nest, Tranexemic Acid, Royal Jelly and Apple Polyphenol. All of them target brightening/hydration or both. I mostly only purchase sheet masks that target those two concerns. I would not be looking for nourishment from an MBD sheet mask. Most Asian sheet masks target the following only: hydration, brightening and/or minimising pores. If you want something nourishing, you need to be looking at oil sheet masks. MBD and Dr Morita do not make oil sheet masks. Some Korean brands that do: Papa Recipe, Huxley, Make P:REM.

Probably ask duality as well on the Asian Beauty thread about your question about recommendations from MBD and Dr Morita if she doesn`t see it. She`s one of only a handful on this forum who have probably used a variety from the range. I think she has also used My Scheming which is another Taiwanese sheet mask brand on the same level as MBD. I have otherwise not used Dr Morita – doesn`t peak my interest at all for no particular reason.

Naruko is also another good Taiwanese sheet mask brand – not primarily known for just their sheet masks though.
