Omnilux Blue – Is it worth it?

Hi

This is my first post here and I’m hoping some of you may be able to give me some advice or share your experiences.

I have tried the yellow Omnilux a couple of times in the past and I did like the results. My skin was brighter afterwards and any old blemishes I had healed up and went away quite quickly. This time around I was thinking of trying Omnilux Blue as it is specially for acne prone skin and while I don’t suffer from full-blown acne, I would say my skin is acne prone as I am prone to breakouts and usually have at least a couple of zits at any given time.

This is really my only skin concern at the moment which is why I thought the Omnliux Blue might be good to try as it is said to help kill the bacteria on the skin.

Has anyone else here tried Omnlix Blue and how would you describe your skin? I’m just wondering whether it is worth trying for skin like mine where I do get frequent breakouts or if it is more beneficial for someone with full on, acne active.

Thanks 🙂

    Hey MC,
Blue LED is great for controlling the bacteria that cause acne but it has a couple of downsides:
    – the wavelength is short so it acts quite superficially on the skin (at the very top layers)
    – It only works if there is a large bacterial component to your acne.

Near-infrared LED (around the 830nm spectrum) might be more appropriate for helping to calm the inflammation that contributes to acne.

Your best bet is to find a reputable professional and have them prescribe the correct course of light treatments for you! And of course make sure you are backing it up with correct home skincare. It sounds like you might benefit from a topical Vitamin A (retinol) and topical Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) as well.

    Hope this helps~
