Just thought I’d jump on here to give people an update from me. I’ve been using these products every second day and have not had any reactions at all. Like Nell said the eye cream you only need a tiny amount. Sometimes it’s hard not to get too much on your finger from the jar – a tube would be a lot easier to control. I can’t say I can see a difference in my skin yet but will be upping this to every night starting tonight so will report if anything happens – good or bad. I too would like to know what % retinol is in the product. But one thing I did find out was how Retinyl Propionate compares to Retinol. I read a website “incidecoder” that broke it down easily……….

“Retinyl Propionate (RP) is a less well-known, but pretty interesting member of the retinoids, aka the “royal family of skincare”………….. tretinoin is the queen herself (the FDA-proven anti-aging active molecule), retinol is like Prince William (two conversion steps needed to be active) and Retinyl Palmitate is like little Prince George (three conversion steps needed to be active).
Similar to Retinyl Palmitate, Retinyl Propionate is also a retinol ester with retinol and propionic acid being attached together. This puts our molecule in the place of little Princess Charlotte on the family tree, quite far away from the throne.”

    I love this analogy!

Oh boy, my first night of using the products – particularly the eye cream – was a harsh lesson LOL don’t be like me and go ham with the eyecream!

I have previously used retinol so I was a little bit fearless but did not realize the obvious, which is that I’ve never used retinol on my eye area because it’s normally recommended you keep retinol away from that area.

First night I applied the eyecream and took out a little more than I had meant to and just went ahead and applied it… oh boy did my eyes feel dry and swollen the next morning, LOL. That is not the product’s fault, though, it’s an expected side effect of retinol doing its job and I just overdid it. It was honestly kind of nice to feel that it was working and doing something at least!

I’ve used the products twice now and especially on my forehead feel that there is improvement, though no objective assessment done yet. I do wish Olay would be a little more transparent about the strength of the retinol in the product – as someone who is used to a brand like the Ordinary I like to know how strong my retinoids are so I know what to expect and how careful to be.

First use of these products was last night. Woke up to no reactions or side effects. Eye cream thicker than I thought it would be but absorbed well (only need a tiny amount), the serum absorbed well and is light. Like that there’s no scent although the eyecream does have a hint of a scent but barely visible. I will start by using this 2-3 x / week for the first week and increase depending on how my skin reacts. I love the packaging and the serum automatic dispenser is a great idea. Reminds you not to go heavy-handed. Noted though that Retinol is the last ingredient on the eye cream and the second last on the serum – niacinamide is further down the list too. However, Retinyl Propionate is high up on the list – so I’m going to be doing a bit of research about that.

Also thought it a great idea from NellAdams to include her info prior to trialing. Here’s mine : I’m 49 and have annoyingly deep forehead wrinkles, crepey skin around the eyes, crows feet, and the start of drooping near my mouth. Fingers crossed these products are going to help in any way possible 🙂

Congrats NellAdams on being on this trial too. It’ll be good to compare notes. Good idea too to include your baseline info prior to trialling.

My products arrived yesterday <3 I am just waiting a couple more days to have that requested gap of 5 days between my previous retinol (The Ordinary Retinol in Squaline 0.2%) and this one – I didn’t think the parcel would arrive this quickly, mail has been a mess down here in Victoria!

I’ll start with using it 2 times in a week (with rest days between) but am hoping I can amp it up a little since my skin is already fairly used to retinol!

Edit: Just some background for me as well in case any beauties are staying tuned for relevant results for them – I am 33, have fine lines on my forehead (they are not very visible but they are always there even without any facial expressions) and fairly deep 11 lines – I also have hooded eyes that are getting heavier with age (I hear retinol around eyes can help with that!). So I should be able to see even the smallest results with this range of relevant ‘issues’!
