Keeping Matte
I would love some advice on keeping oily skin looking as matte as possible for as long as possible. Recommendations for Mattifying products and just any tips and tricks for keeping matte would be awesome. 🙂

In the summer I sometimes tend to have oily skin so I find that products that are specifically mattifying do the trick. I use Maybelline’s fit me matte and poreless as well as set my foundation with Stay Matte by Rimmel. The trick is to always set your face with a powder and maybe even try a matte setting spray?

Another tip that I use mainly for special occasions is to ‘bake’ my oily areas with loose powder. This thread has a bit of info on this technique and some beauties have mentioned products they use to ‘bake’ with etc. https://www.beautyheaven.com.au/forums/make-up/baking-your-face

For a matte finish, I think it is probably best to use a mattifying primer or a matte foundation. I have heard that the Loreal Infalliable Matte foundation is really great for oily skin types. You can also powder for a matte finish, using a translucent powder.
I know this might be a little weird but honestly, rather than completely finding all matte products, which might actually dry out the skin, it might actually be better to add a very tiny amount of light oil onto the skin. It will be able to help balance out the oil/sebum production. 🙂 Hope it helps!

I use the tiniest bit of olive oil once every other week and my skin is soft and no where near as oily!

I use the Loreal Infallible Matte foundation as my everyday foundation and I love it! It keeps my face looking matte for longer than most foundations. After 4-5 hours, I start looking a little bit glowy in my typically oily areas compared to the shiny look after just 2-3 hours with other foundations. It still gets oily by the end of my 8 hour working day but it doesn`t break down or go patchy like other foundations I`ve tried and the oiliness is easily remedied with a bit of blotting tissue. Plus, it gives a good medium coverage with one thin layer and is buildable. It`s good stuff!

Maybe try a matte primer, I really liked the stay matte primer from rimmel. (however don’t bother with the NYX shine killer, I hated it, I made my skin oily and it brought out a shine (which isn’t what I wanted). I prefer matte foundations, I am currently using the dream velvet one by maybelline and it is really great.
