Help! I need a good dermatologist to see in the Syd Area

Hi all,
Im basically posting here as I have exhausted all options currently in my power. Im 28 and 8 months ago literary overnight my face changed for the worse. I have always had acne prone, oily skin but the skin on my face changed into thick, tight, greasy on top with rough looking skin thats bright red like im contatntly sunburnt and has the appearance of an orange peel in texture all over my face, making me look like im 35. Ive seen 5 doctors and four dermatlogists since then and im not kidding when i say all of them said they did not know what is wrong and have no idea what can be done and just sent me out the door. One wrote me a script for cortisone cream which just made it worse. since then Ive tried almost every cream and lotion which I can either buy here or can be purchased overseas and posted out here to seeing a naturopath for altrenative treatment. All have failed miserably with no relief in sight. Does anyone out there know of a competent dermatologist in the Sydney area who will listen to what I have to say rather than ignoring me and then sending me out the door. I need relief as it causes me daily pain and I now no longer leave the house cause it looks that bad people just stare. Ive tried covering it with makeup and it just burns and makes it look ten times worse cause. Any recommendations on dermatologists in the sydney area will be greatley appriciated

You poor thing! Not sure if you’re still looking for a dermatologist, but I can highly recommend dr Gavin Gottschalk at the chatswood dermatology clinic. He’s excellent, very straightforward, kind, and really listens. I have lots of experience with dermatologists, having suffered from chronic eczema since childhood, and I think he’s one of the best around. Good luck, and I hope you’re feeling better now.

I have a friend who is studying med. He has a lecturer in Dermatology who also practises medicine. He has a clinic but it is located in Newcastle. Would you be interested? I mean, if he teaches it, he must be good!

Josephine…I think it was Josephine Robertson or Robinson..something with R, I think. Sorry can’t be more helpful!

I will look up a dr josephine ?? in rockdale and see what I find. As for my diet I avoid refined sugars, bad fats and eat a dairy free diet with no white breads or pastas. I dont smoke or drink alcohol or soft drinks (water only) and I take supplements and everything that is supposed to be good for you……Its so depressing I have such bad skin depsite a healthy diet and lifestyle but yet so many people drink alcohol and soft drink daily, smoke a pack of ciggarettes a day and eat junk food for breakfast, lunch and dinner and yet have beautiful skin

Omg, sweetie, that’s terrible! I’m not sure if the dermatologist I went to is the best but she seemed to be competent enough. Not to mention she was recommended by my GP. My GP is excellent and had been nominated as GP of the Yr 3 years in a row.

Anyway, she recommended me a Dermatologist in Rockdale. Her name was Josephine something. I can’t believe your doctor suggested cortisone cream…it would do nothing. How is your diet?

The only thing that happened in time with the skin condition appearing is that I got all four of my wisdom teeth removed under general anesthetic and then got severe dry socket for 2 weeks after the operation. Although so far every doctor Ive asked in regards to that maybe being the cause just said “I dont know” and the dentist who performed to operation said the same thing.

Well Im loacted in the greater western area of Sydney (Penrith and surrounding suburbs) but Im willing to travel anywhere around sydney for a doctor who can give me an answer and some relief from the pain.
