Has anyone used ReTrieve Cream – a prescription cream for sundamaged skin

I’ve received a 5g sample tube of Retrieve Cream from a dermatologist and have a script for this. I haven’t used the sample tube yet. The cream is meant to regenerate photodamaged skin and is meant to smooth, regenerate and lighten pigmented skin and reduce wrinkles.

All sounds great until you read the side effects, may cause redness, irritation and peeling initially, avoid sun exposure etc. It sounds like the cream is a bit harsh and am worried about the side effects.

Has anyone used this cream , what did you think of it, would you recommend using it.

I have Retrieve cream on prescription from a Dermatologist. I have sensitive skin and had a lot of irritation initially. I also have a lot of sun damage that she was trying to help. After a year my skin not greatly improved and still needed lots of treatment buring the sun cancers. She has now suggested that I use it less often than every second night because of the irritation. Maybe others will have a better result.

    Hi Hayley,

I am using L’OREAL PARIS UV Perfect Sunscreen SPF 50. This UV Perfect Sunscreen SPF 50 is enriched with a powerful antioxidant complex which nourishes skin and protects it from sun damage. This Sunscreen provides optimal protection against pigmentation, premature ageing and skin darkening due to its patented Mexoryl SX and XL filters. It also contains an oil-free formula which does not block pores and makes it easy to apply makeup. Hope it works on you.. 🙂

I’m on Stieva .5% and have no irritation whatsoever. In addition to SPF 50+ during the day, I layer a hydrating moisturiser over the tretinoin an hour after application of tretinoin at night.
I started off by applying moisturiser first as a buffer for the tretinoin and as my skin adjusted i switched to tretinoin first than moisturiser. I apply tretinoin around my eye area as well with zero irritation and can apply it all over my face 7 days a week with zero issues.

    Hi Hayley,

I haven’t used that particular brand but from the search I have done I am guessing it is a vitamin A cream correct? I was prescribed one as well (Stieva) as I suffer from acne and have pigmentation. Because it is a vitamin A cream, it increases cell turnover which means that it will become dry and your skin can become sensitive so much make sure you wear SPF and try to avoid the sun. I try to use it once every two days as one time I put it on everyday and my skin was very dry and tight and it became painful. It definitely worked for my acne but I found that for my pigmentation it has taken awhile. It might work differently for you though.
