In terms of natural acne treatments, is there a trend towards combining any of the following botanicals?

    • Honey (containing peroxide)

    • Manuka or Jelly Bush Honey (containing methylglyoxal)

    • Tea Tree (well established)

    • Chamomile

    • Rosemary

    • Psoralea corylifolia (source of Bakuchiol)

    • Neem

    • Turmeric

    • Ashwagandha

    • Green Tea

    • Shea

    • Sea Buckthorn

    • Chaste berry.

In regards to azelaic acid, which vehicle base is most efficacious- gel or lotion?

No questions but I was surprised that something as simple as changing my moisturiser from what I thought was an excellent dermatologist recommended brand to a “skincare” brand has banished my pimples.

      Hi Okatko,

Which moisturiser caused you issues and to which brand did you switch?

Lucy I had been using Cetaphil for years when one day I decided to walk into a Priceline and spoke to their MUA and she directed my to olay miracle boost youth pre essenceand la Roche posay toleraine ultra. Since then I’ve used another 3-4 moisturisers and only another Olay has made me break out in pimples so there must be something in the Olay and Cetaphil that makes me break out. If I hadn’t discovered BH I probably would never have tried anything different and would still be walking around at my age looking like I’m going through puberty. It was never acne but I never had clear skin. I still have some under the skin bumps which probably need a good skin peel or microdermabrasion to clear.

I have a derm in the family and he recommends LRP over Cetaphil.

        Cetaphil is awful IMHO.

I use LRP Toleriane Dermo Cleanser along with the CeraVe range; L`Oreal owns both these brands.

Edit: You may have paraben or silicone sensitivity…

Thanks Lucy. I will keen an eye out for those ingredients in future. At the moment I`m using a Glowlab moisturiser and I`m not getting a breakout. I didn`t know L`Oreal owned La Roche Posay! It seems they have their fingers in a lot of pots.

Bumping this topic in case anybody has acne and wants to ask any questions.

Is their anything natural that can help hormonal acne that comes and goes at different times of the month? , large, blind pimples along the jawline.

      Hey Lisa,

Look out for products combining two or more of the following: rosemary extract, honey, tea tree or gum arabic.
