DIY Skin Care
I thought I’d start a dedicaed thread for all skincare DIY so it is in one easy location for everyone to reference.
There will be 2 variants of DIY skincare: the natural way using homemade ingredients and the scientific one using active ingredients specifically sourced to mix your own creams and products.
Claraflo shared with us a great natural enzyme mask using kiwi fruit and it was great. I’ll copy it in this thread for easy referencing as well as add in my own experimentation of it.
RECIPE: CLARAFLO’S KIWI ENZYME MASK
1/2 green kiwi mashed (with spoon or a blender stick)
2 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon apricot kernel oil (or avocado or sweet almond)
Mix all ingredients together. IF you find it too running, add in some natural yoghurt to thicken it up and then slather on your face.
Leave on skin for as long as you like or until you feel a tingling sensation. This could be 4 minutes or could be 15, depending on your skin sensitivity. Be sure to leave it on for no more than 20mins as the acid in the kiwi could eat away your top layer of your skin.
This mask is great as a gentle peel and will leave your skin soft and help reduce any flaky skin conditions you might be suffering as it makes it easier to scrub/rub off the dead skin cells.
Do not use more than twice a week as it could be too much for your skin. Use common sense, if your skin is sensitive, use it less frequently and find a frequency that is suitable for your skin.
